1 BIG GOD (part 2)

Let’s do a little review of what we talked about last time.

This universe is NOT eternal. At one point there was NOTHING, so where did our universe come from?

Nothing comes from nothing....nothing ever did.

There was a time when time, matter, space, and energy DID NOT EXIST…and now it does. So...Something/One outside of time, matter, space, and energy. Some highly intelligent, incredibly powerful being had to cause the universe to exist.

The Scriptures agree with that assessment.

Hebrews 11:3 (NIV) By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Remember our BIG TRUTH

BIG TRUTH: There is a God…and you’re NOT Him.

We know this first part - There is a God - because the universe is NOT eternal and had to be created by God.

We know the second part - There is a God…and you’re NOT Him - because YOU are not eternal.

There was a time when you WEREN’T.

Turn to someone and tell them, “There was a time when you WEREN’T.” “You’re awesome, but you’re not THAT awesome!”

We’ve looked through a telescope to look at stuff beyond Earth. Now let’s look through the microscope as we examine the intricacy of human life on earth.

BIG TRUTH: There is a God…and you’re NOT Him.

Psalm 139:13-15 (NLT) You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

How Great is YOUR God?

My God made me very complex! What kind of designer could design me but God?

Psalm 139:16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

My God knows my future! ‘Everyday of my life was recorded in your book.’ He was there when I was born and He’ll be there when I change addresses.

Psalm 139:17-18 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

My God thinks about me! His thoughts & knowledge about us outnumbers the grains of sand. How wild is that? My God is near! ‘when I wake up, you are still with me' He knows your needs. He is as close as you allow.

I have ONE QUESTION before we sing and leave for the evening…

How Great is YOUR God? 3 options

1.My God is ME. I answer to no one else. I am in control of my life. Reminder: there was a time when you WEREN’T.

2.My God is WEAK - not worth following with my whole life. You’ve put God in a box telling Him, “You can have me on Sunday mornings, but not on Friday nights.”

3.My God is WORTHY of my life…Greater than I have ever imagined. He is the God of the IMPOSSIBLE and He is worthy of my worship.

Read about the God who made you and thinks about you. 1 chapter a day - start in Gospel of John.

Take some time to pray everyday. Find a quiet place and talk to the God who made you - Tell Him THANKS & ASK Him to provide for your needs.
