Luke 12:35-48
1. Ready for His Coming.
v. 35--“let your loins be girt” “lights burning”
"Girding your loins" deals with being ready for a task and removing obstructions from your life.
1 Peter 1:13, Ephesians 6:14, 2 Corinthians 10:5
2. Announcement of His Coming.
v. 36--“When He cometh”
7 times from vs. 36-40 that say He will come or return.
HE IS COMING!
3. Blessedness of His Coming, v. 37
“Blessed are those servants” twice repeated, vv. 37, 38
4. Watching for His Coming, v. 37
“Shall find watching”
Watch means to be alert, to be ready not caught by surprise. This is the attitude we must have toward the second coming of Jesus Christ.
5. Reward of His Coming, v. 37
“Will come forth and serve them”
John 14:1-4, Philippians 2:7, 8
6. Command About His Coming.
The Lord changes the picture by alluding to a home owner whose house was broken into.
vv. 39, 40--“Be ye therefore ready”
1 Thessalonians 5:4; Revelation 3:3; Revelation 16:15
7. Faithfulness and Reward at His Coming. vv. 42-44
1 Corinthians 4:1, 2
We must be found faithful.
We must be working at what the Lord has assigned us to do.
The thing God wants from us is faithfulness.
8. Effect of not Expecting His Coming. v. 45
9. Judgement Upon Those Who Are Not Ready for His Coming, vv. 46-48
1 Corinthians 3:12-15; Romans 12:2; Colossians 1:9; 2 Peter 3:18
The more we have and know the more we are held accountable to.
It is a fact the Lord Jesus Christ is coming.
It is the will of God for His people to live in light of this fact.
