State: We are supposed to share the encouragement we are given with others so they will be comforted
I was shown something in scripture that really encouraged me…and I want to do the same for you
Feeding People
State: This is one of the most extravagant miracles in the whole bible
The disciples saw five loaves of bread and two fish feed 5 thousand people plus women and children
Potentially over 10,000 people
Go into the Metro Centre with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish and feed them all
The disciples just witnessed an amazing miracle of provision
Everything Jesus did and said was done so to teach us something about the Father
About his personality - character - and how he felt about us- what he expects of us
What did Jesus want us to learn about the Father and about being a follower of Christ in doing this miracle?
This miracle was a set up by Jesus.
People could have gone and gotten food
He (Jesus) wanted them to learn something
His ability to provide when there was scarcity
His ability to multiply what little is available
His ability to make not enough enough (this includes us as individuals)
He can put us into and create circumstances that will teach us faith.
To show how we can be deceived into thinking there is no answer by what we see ( only a little bread and a few fish)
State: Would you doubt what Jesus says after witnessing this miracle?
Where would your faith be after this?
Scriptures answers this in the next passage...
State: Jesus knew that storm was coming and he knew exactly where they were and how hard it was.
Jesus allowed this because he wanted to teach them something about God their Father and being people of faith
TWO KINDS OF STORMS (Jonah)
State: Two kinds of storms:
storms of correction, when God disciplines us;
storms of perfection, when God helps us to grow.
Jonah was in a storm because he disobeyed God and had to be corrected.
(God sent the whale to rescue him)
God allowed Jonah to experience as close to death as you can get until finally he repented and called out to God
State: The disciples were in a storm because they obeyed Christ and had to be perfected.

State: What struck me was Jesus compassion and love for Peter in his weakness
Jesus said to Peter..” You have so little faith, why did you doubt me?
Why?!
Peter was in the middle of a raging storm and he was sinking
He was scared enough that he “shouted” Save me! (scream with horror)
He saw the storm which was real and its scared him
What are you looking at that is scaring you and making you sink in your faith
You should find out
But why did Jesus allow it to happen
To show Peter what walking with faith can look like - by getting out of the boat
Show that Jesus will reach out and grab you when you are going down because your faith is failing
Even in this display of a lack of faith, Jesus reached out and caught Peter in his disbelief, just like he saved Jonah from his disobedience.
Isaiah talks about Jesus’s nature and purpose in coming
State: We serve a God of grace, mercy and gentleness
