Let’s be honest. Other people and their views irk us. We all know why too – it’s because they’re wrong… obviously they don’t get it, they don’t get the whole picture, not like we do. How could anyone be so wrong, like they are wrong, right now? Actually, you know what… I’m going to say it. They offend me. My world is hereby changed, and I’ll have you know it - because they think, speak, or act differently to me and my views. I imagine you already know that this is tongue in cheek. Those aren’t wise or discerning words, nor are they part of a particularly Christian character. Yet if we’re honest, how we respond to disagreements with others, at least at the heart level, doesn’t look all that different. 2 particular texts invite a better response in us this weekend: It is wisdom to overlook offense because in Christ God forgave infinitely more of us than we ever will of others. Christians are given the privilege of entrusting all wrongs against us to the One who judges justly. With peace
