Intro - Does God really like you?

Ready: for every Good Work - Titus 3:1-2

Submit & Obey v1
Titus 3:1 ESV
1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
Obedience to authorities This is hard why?
Ready, willing to do good works, how?
Speak no evil/Avoid Quarrels v2
Titus 3:2 ESV
2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.
Gentle Coureous
But dang this is hard! How in the world can we gain the strength we need to do what God asks us to do - The Bible shows us. God give is to us. It is Grace

Motivated: by God’s Rescue - Titus 3:3-7

Who we were v3
Titus 3:3 ESV
3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.
His goodness & love v4
Titus 3:4 ESV
4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,
His grace, mercy & renewal v5
Titus 3:5 ESV
5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
Why do we do good works?
His generosity in Jesus v6
Titus 3:6 ESV
6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
His justifying & Adopting v7
Titus 3:7 ESV
7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Here is the reality WE are to enjoy and remember God’s rescue of us. that should change our hear and make us excited to do the good God has planned for us.

Devoted: to Good Works Titus 3:8-15

Insist - devoted to good works v 8
Titus 3:8 ESV
8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.
Trustworthy, Insist, Excellent, Profitable
Alternative: Those who refuse vs 9-11
Titus 3:9–11 ESV
9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. 10 As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
Controversy dissension quarrels Strong divisions
Examples - vs 12-13
Titus 3:12–13 ESV
12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. 13 Do your best to speed Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; see that they lack nothing.
Lack nothing
Response - vs 14-15
Titus 3:14–15 ESV
14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. 15 All who are with me send greetings to you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
NOt be unfruitful
Ends with Grace
What are you looking forward to most about going home? Least looking forward to?
What did you learn this weekend?
What is the difference between doing good works to be saved rather than doing good works because you are saved?
What are some good works that you want to do more of as you are motivated by the gospel?
Who is someone back home that needs you to be there for them? How can you be motived to help them?
How can you do that with help from your brothers and sisters in Christ?
