Reading: 1 Peter 1:14-16
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
Pray
God Calls Us, As His Children, To Be Holy
God Calls Us, As His Children, To Be Holy
We Cannot Be Holy Unless We Reject Godless Passions

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
Our Passions Corrupt Us, So We Must Crucify Them

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
We See God’s Holiness in His Words and in His Works

16 But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.

We Best Reflect God’s Character by Remembering His Commands and Prioritizing Our Obedience

39 And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after.
40 So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God.
41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”
