Going down the road at 55mph and a curve comes up to the right and you would rather make the turn than run off the side of the road, which way do you think you would want to turn the bars to be able to make that turn?
Countersteering
counter intuitive.
God’s ways often seem counter intuitive.
26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will be delivered.
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
12 There is a way which seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.
Jesus tells about His death.
20 Then He warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ.
21 From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
22 Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.”
23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
God’s principles are counter-intuitive.
The Humble will be the first in line.
The rich have no advantage over the poor.
Childlike qualities are required.
Luke 18:17 “Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”
You don’t have to make up for your bad deeds.
Outcasts are welcome.
25 “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
The Gospel is counter-intuitive.
God shed the blood of the only truly innocent man to every walk the earth to pay for sins of all of us who know we are guilty.
How does that make sense?
How can you rationally and logically understand that.
For a normal rational person who thinks logically, the Gospel is impossible to comprehend.
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;
23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,
24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;
27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,
28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,
29 so that no man may boast before God.
30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
31 so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Does this mean I have to deny science and logic to follow Christ?
NO!, but you have to understand it from His perspective, not your own.
From an eternal perspective.
Short term- Sweets taste good, eat sweets.
Long term - Chocolate will rot your teeth cause you to get fat, Eat less sweets.
So you don’t leave thinking that I am saying you have to abandon all your reasoning skills to follow the Lord.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
