HIS HAND LEADING AND HOLDING

SLIDE 1
Last week the Lord had shown us how “He gently leads”
How that brings us comfort
The message was taken from Isaiah 40 as Israel would be in captivity and need to hears God’s message of mercy and the promise of Messiah to come and how He would gently lead.
SLIDE 2
GENTLY LEAD (Isaiah 40:11)
Comfort
Like being lead to water
Being refreshed
Drinking from His cup
Isaiah had penned that promise to Israel 140 years before they would be in captivity, .... and compared Christ leading to like being lead to water, being refreshed and like drinking from His cup
SLIDE 3
HIS HAND LEADING AND HOLDING IMAGE
Today the Lord wants to show us He is more than able to lead us and ........doe not matter where we are or state of affairs we may be in
We will see this today from a Psalm of David
A psalm is a poem sung to musical instruments, originally the harp
Lets look at these two key verses today from Psalm 139
SLIDE 4
Psalm 139:9–10 NASB95
9 If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
As week look closer at this passage its loaded with assurance of who God is and what He can do. Also this including Jesus for us now
First off we feel in our spirit from Holy Spirit
SLIDE 5
Is there any place I can go to avoid your Spirit?
to be out of your sight?
If I climb to the sky, you’re there!
If I go underground, you’re there!
The first point we see He is more than able to lead us is because
SLIDE 6
THE LORD MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO LEAD US
*His Omnipresence
He is present in all places at all times
He transcends the limitations of space
When we awake He is with us
When we go to sleep He is with us
When we were in our mothers womb He made us in secret
Even in the belly of a whale He is there
(Uganda and soldiers)
2nd point why the Lord is more than able to lead us
SLIDE 7
THE LORD MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO LEAD US
*His Omnipresence
*His Omniscience
God’s infinite knowledge and understanding of things past present and future
God knows all things
All events are present in His divine mind
God has direct knowledge of everything in creation
He knows the numbers of hair on our head
SLIDE 8
Psalm 139:1–3 NASB95
1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. 3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
He knows what we are thinking
God saves our tears and puts them in a bottle
2nd point why the Lord is more than able to lead us
SLIDE 9
Matthew 9:4 NASB95
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?
SLIDE 10
THE LORD MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO LEAD US
*His Omnipresence
*His Omniscience
*His power and strength
SLIDE 11
Psalm 139:10 NASB95
10 Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
ability and power being described here by king David
Throughout the Psalms The books of Samuel and Kings we see surely see God being with David wherever he was, and then God’s power (His Hand) defending David, fighting for David, helping David
The word hand in the bible has several descriptions
SLIDE 12
HAND
*Unit of measure
*Power or strength
Can God’s power and strength be measured? Think about the miracles he has done. Some here today are walking miracles because the Lord’s unmeasurable power and strength
SLIDE 13
Psalm 110:1 NASB95
1 The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
We see the Messianic connection here
Jesus questioned the Pharisees and religious people “how is it that David in the Spirit was able to say this? Amazing passage
His enemies should be our enemies....amen? It says here they are already under Jesus’ feet
SLIDE 14
HAND
*Unit of measure
*Power or strength
*Friendship and favor
*Prayers and vows
SLIDE 15
Psalm 16:11 NASB95
11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
SLIDE 16
John 10:28 NASB95
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
SLIDE 17
HIS HAND LEADING AND HOLDING IMAGE
God is more than able to lead us
