Overcoming the Flesh

INTRODUCTION

In our last time together, we looked at 1 Peter 2:11-12 which says,

1 Peter 2:11–12 NASB95

11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul. 12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Before we move on to the next section in this chapter, I want to talk about “How” you can overcome the flesh

Where Peter says to “abstain” or keep yourself from “fleshly lusts,” I want us to see “how” to do this

The psalmist says in Psalm 119:9

Psalm 119:9 NASB95

9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.

But how do you do this according to God’s Word?
