Mark 5:24–34 NKJV
24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him. 25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” 31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” 32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
Acknowledge Ken’s Testimony
Never ever give up!
Don’t ever think that...
“All hope is gone” - Ken, there is no hope for mankind! Jesus proved that there is always hope because God loves the world.
God is alive and you can have an encounter with Him today!
there is another way people give up on God..
“Time heals all my wounds”
Time does not heal Jesus does!
You see this Woman suffering from prolonged menstrual cycles for 12 years was:
a. Physically pained
12 years of this condition
Weak, anemic, in pain
cannot bear children
emotional pain too
b. Financially drained
“ had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better ,  but rather grew worse.” (Mark 5:26)
She spent everything she had with doctors.
She had no one else to turn to
People say When you have no one else to turn to God, let me submit to you this morning --- turn to Jesus first!
c. Relationally strained..
There were a lot of religious rules during Jesus’ day. , but for this woman and because of her bleeding she would have been declared unclean according to Leviticus 15 (vs.25-27).
Women had to wait seven days after any bleeding stopped before they were permitted to offer sacrifices (vs.28-29). For 12 years she was unable to participate in temple or synagouge worship. She would have also been very limited in being around people, friends, and family because she was considered unclean. Socially, she was a little better off than a leper.
d. Spiritually Chained
People of her day view sickness as being cursed by God. People including herself thought illness means being guilty of some sin and God was punishing them.
John 9, the disciples of Jesus asked Jesus about a blind man. They asked Jesus, “Why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sin?” (John 9:2, NLT). There was this assumption of sin..
the great spiritual burden that this woman probably carried..
You may be one or all of this today, physically pained, financially drained, relationally strained, spiritually chained — if you are...
2. Come to Jesus in expectant faith.
Mark 5:27–28 NKJV
27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
Her plan was so simple.. (talk)
Where did she get this idea?
Mark 3:10 NKJV
10 For He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him.
Mustard seed faith, little knowledge of Jesus and His miracles..
Superstitious faith - not an excuse to touch objects that you deem are a representation of Jesus. IDOLATRY
In the Bible, strange things happen that it only took physical contact to heal people.. sometimes some form of transference,, like the shadow of Peter being cast on the sick in Acts 5.. and the handkerchiefs and aprons that were touched by Paul were taken to the sick, diseases and evil spirits left them in Acts 19.
Why are miracles so spectacular and commonplace then .. in New Testament times and not now?
These phenomena are part of a great move of God and not of man.. (examples of man manufacturing miracles by selling handkerchiefs)
3. God’s miracles reveal Himself and His redemptive work for mankind.
Mark 5:29 NKJV
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.
Jesus revealed Himself and authenticated His mission, His message and His Person
LISTEN: Healings, signs, and wonders are extraordinary, yes,... but no more extraordinary than the redemption accomplished by Christ.
Miracles during Jesus’ time,, served His purpose — humanity was still looking forward to the cross of Jesus..
This is why I believe what Jesus said that greater things we will do, because I go to my Father.
God’s ultimate victory has already been Actualized THROUGH THE CRUCIFIED, RESURRECTED AND EXALTED CHRIST that we already see the power of God at work even in the proclamation of the Gospel.
I don’t believe that miracles have ceased, I thank God that He is in control and shows up in times and ways of His own choosing!
I am believing, and please believe with me that there will be another great move of God shortly before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ..
God remains active and sovereign in the world
NAOMI’s TESTIMONY HERE
Let me tell you about Jesus:
He does not consider you less important to Him than someone else.
On the way to Jairus’ daughter.. (Jairus, ruler of the synagogue, man of influence and probably affluence by their standards) little daughter sick..
2. Jesus makes no judgement on how we approach Him.
Woman did not approach her with understanding of Who He was
It becomes religion if there is only a certain way required to approach God
Mark 5:30 NKJV
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
3. The Lord uses our testimony to highlight His greatness.
I don’t believe the Lord is unaware of the woman — but He wanted to get to know her
Mark 5:32 ESV
32 And he looked around to see who had done it.
Jesus really stopped and searched for this woman..
Mark 5:33 NKJV
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
God wants the woman to be a living testimony...
4. He doesn’t only want to be your healer, He wants to be your Savior and friend.
Mark 5:34 NKJV
34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
Affirmed her faith - this is Faith according to Jesus.
A relationship.. Daughter
she wanted to be anonymous, lost in the crowd, Jesus did not let her.
The Holy Spirit chose to make this woman anonymous to us ==> I believe we will get to meet her in heaven.
YOU ARE NOT ANONYMOUS TO THE LORD!
