Ezekiel 11:1-4: The Rebellion of The Remaining Leadership
The east gate was always the most important.
Here are twenty-five men.
However, there were two noticeable men.
It was the failure of past leadership that got Israel into the state of exile we are currently reading about.
Interestingly, Ezekiel noticed the following: Jaazaniah and Pelatiah, who were leaders among the people, plotting evil and giving wicked advice.
Their plots speak of secretive desires.
The issue is a political one.
The governing officials have not properly followed the teachings of God, and it has impacted the nation of Israel drastically.
Vs. 3: The metaphor: “The city is the pot, and we are the meat”
This metaphor relays the fact that Israel will be destroyed in the city that was meant for worship.
The reference to a pot suggests that there will be some sort of fire, which refers to the impending destructive fire.
Vs. 6 the reference to the slain in this city, can be related to the fact that Israel’s kings had a habit of killing innocent individuals (see 2 Kings 21:16).
Verse 13 is the telling dilemma in the nation of Israel.
It shows that the true problem is the fact that Israel is losing its remnant.
The people were left in Jerusalem to serve as a remnant.
However, the people that are left are continuing in the way of the people that were taken.
Ezekiel 11:14-21: The Restoration
Restoration looks like Israel receiving forgiveness, but also getting the ability to not do the same thing twice.
Israel was to receive a new hearth.
