The moment of grandeur
1 Kings 1:38–40 (NASB95) — 38 So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon. 39 Zadok the priest then took the horn of oil from the tent and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!” 40 All the people went up after him, and the people were playing on flutes and rejoicing with great joy, so that the earth shook at their noise.
The coronation of David’s son Solomon and the announcement came with great celebration.
Solomon means Peace.
Solomon was also very much loved by the Lord.
2 Samuel 12:24–25 (NASB95) — 24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her; and she gave birth to a son, and he named him Solomon. Now the Lord loved him 25 and sent word through Nathan the prophet, and he named him Jedidiah for the Lord’s sake.
And here we find an foreshadowing in the Old Testament of this great event that takes place at the baptism of Jesus which is His anointing to be king.
Psalm 2:7–9 (NASB95) — 7 “I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8 ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession. 9 ‘You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’ ”
This is another fine and glorious day in the Lord as we continue in our passage in Matthew 3 and the baptism of Jesus.
Matthew 3:13 The Came Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan to John in order to be baptized by him But John tried to prevent him saying I need by you to be baptized and do you come to baptize me?

Jesus is the perfect lamb of God without spot or blemish. Jesus was born as Adam was created without sin.
Jesus had no sin of His own that he would have to repent for. There was no changing of the mind of Jesus who would go into the water.
To fulfill all righteousness, the Baptism became the identification point where Jesus would begin His ministry.

1.      The Baptism was a precursor of what was to take place on the cross.

a.      Prior to entering the water Jesus stands as the perfect lamb of God. this is what John by the illumination of the spirit is able to convey.

John had already said that he was unworthy to be even a slave to this one. And this one who will baptize by spirit and by fire, that is he is righteous and just to save or to condemn, in that he announces the perfection of the one who is to come.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB95) — 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Hebrews 4:15 (NASB95) — 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 7:26 (NASB95) — 26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;
1 John 3:5 (NASB95) — 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.

b.      Entering into the water is the picture of his death and burial.

As Jesus is taken into the water, he is out of view of the spectators. Jesus’s death on the cross, that is the separation from the relationship with His Father in heaven and out of view of the spectators at the foot of the cross experiences Hell in its fullest measure.
Jesus suffered in the place of darkness and gnashing of teeth on our behalf. He experienced what the rich man in Luke experienced for Jesus said, “I thirst.” In that darkness, Jesus would experience the full blunt of demonic attacks as the bulls of Bashan hammers away at his suffering body.
Now Jesus immediately went up from the water
2117 εὐθύσ1, εὐθύσ2 [euthus /yoo·thoos/] adj. Perhaps from 2095 and 5087; GK 2317 and 2318; 16 occurrences; AV translates as “straight” five times, “right” three times, “immediately” three times, “straightway” twice, “anon” once, “by and by” once, and “forthwith” once. 1 straight, level. 2 straight forward, upright, true, sincere. 3 straightway, immediately, forthwith.
The term conveys a sense of urgency or immediacy.[1]
There is anointment of the King. As it is that with anointment of King Solomon the king of Peace and there was great celebration (1 Kings 1:39–40) it is the coronation right here the Son of God is anointed King.
The Love that the Lord (2 Samuel 12:26)  had for Solomon is the foreshadowing of God’s love and acceptance of Jesus to rule as King.
The Father speaking out of the heaven is saying that this is my Son. This is my gift to you, oh mankind, this is the one acceptable to me for sacrifice this is the only sacrifice that I will accept.
Euthus conveys the grandeur of the moment. That something most significant in all of human history had just taken place.
That is the beginning of the end of Satan. The battle line is drawn. Jesus having victory over death renders the career of the murderer Satan done.
1 Corinthians 15:55–58 (NASB95) — 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
Our public baptism identifies us with the victory of Christ.
For thirty years Jesus was out of sight as far as recorded scriptures. And maybe he was also out of sight of the view of Satan and his minions who would continue to seek to destroy him.
And wasn’t it that Moses too was out of the picture for 40 years prior to leading God’s people out of Egypt?
Moses had His grandeur moment leading the people through the water. It was a well-known event in history as it was Rehab who told the spies of their knowledge of what the Lord had done on their behalf. It was Moses that led the people through the waters and brought the people out to the other side.
The Lord Jesus is the last Adam, and he is the Moses that leads his people through the baptism and onward to the promised Kingdom.
We follow Jesus to spiritual freedom out from the bondage of sin.
Yours and my Baptism occurred the moment we trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life. our sins were washed away.
Isaiah 1:18 (NASB95) — 18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.
Isaiah 1:18 (NASB95) — 18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.
Isaiah 43:25 (NASB95) — 25 “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins.
This is the real baptism which took place and is necessary prior to the ritual baptism of water.
Do I believe in water baptism as a mandate? That there is still a place for water baptism?

Yes.

It is a declaration for all, a public Joshua moment for all that as far as me and my house we will serve the Lord.
It is a declaration to the God of this world, Satan,
“I no longer belong to you, but I am a citizen of Kingdom of Heaven”
The grandeur moment coming out of the water for Jesus was receiving the Holy Spirit. It is our grandeur moment when we believe, and we receive the identifying holy spirit anointed as royal family of the King who will reign upon this earth, and we will reign with Him.
Revelation 2:26–28; Revelation 20:4
The rewards of crowns denote kingship
Water Baptism the ritual is a public statement and presentation to the people of this world and to the angels both fallen and elect that one’s loyalties lie with King Jesus and the plan of God for your life.
Matthew 3:16–17 (NASB95) — 16 After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, 17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.”
2106 εὐδοκέω [eudokeo /yoo·dok·eh·o/] v. 1 it seems good to one, is one’s good pleasure. 1a think it good, choose, determine, decide. 1b to do willingly. 1c to be ready to, to prefer, choose rather. 2 to be well pleased with, take pleasure in, to be favorably inclined towards one.
Jesus is the perfect lamb of God, acceptable to God for sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:8–9 (NASB95) — 8 After saying above, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second.
There is no greater qualifier than the Righteous Judge in Heaven who speaks from the throne room of heaven and announces that this is His son acceptable as the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world and approved to be King.
