12 aImmediately the Spirit *impelled Him to go out into the wilderness.

Worship call 0598
From the pen of George Whitten Worthy News.
 don't be mopey!
Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Many times, our unbelieving family and coworkers -- society in general, can make us feel small and inferior -- like second-class citizens -- because we are believers. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, somehow, we begin to believe it! We become what I like to call "mopey Christians," just moping around, keeping our faith hidden under a bushel, feeling afraid to say a word about Yeshua (Jesus), in fear that we might offend someone! And that's precisely what the enemy wants us to feel!
But we can choose whether or not to give in to his foolishness today! Yeshua said that those who follow after Him shall never hunger or thirst -- they have been set free from the law of sin and death -- they've been renewed, cleansed, forgiven, loved with an everlasting love! How on earth can we mope about that??
Friends, we need a reality check. We should be holding our heads high today and ready to tell people about the great work He's done in us! We have been redeemed!
Your family in the Lord with much agape love,
George, Baht Rivka, Elianna & Obadiah

And this is another fine day in the Lord as we come once again to learn the truth of God’s word.
Today we will be in Mark Chapter 1
Mark 1:9–13 (NASB95) — 9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; 11 and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.” 12 Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness. 13 And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to Him.

12 Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness.

Mark uses Immediately often.
2117 εὐθύσ1, εὐθύσ2 [euthus /yoo·thoos/] adj..

1.      straight, level.

2.      straight forward, upright, true, sincere.

3.      straightway, immediately, forthwith.

Often, I took this to be with a sense of urgency. There were but three years to the cross and that there was much that had to be accomplished by Jesus within that window.
But could it be more of a militaristic sense? The red star cluster that signals the battle has just been popped and the two forces, the seed of the Woman, Jesus, moving forward against the seed of the serpent.
Where was Jesus over the previous years of his life?
Many ponder.
Even write essays, publish books, and even made at least one movie. There is lure of the growing up of Jesus.
But the bible remains quiet about it.
Maybe Satan and the demons were not aware of where and what Jesus was doing.
Thirty years of quiet before the battle.
And even prior. As we go two thirds of the entire bible going from one historical event. From the time when the Lord drew a line in the sand in Genesis 3:15, though attacks and counter attacks from the evil one seeking to thwart God’s plan for the coming redeemer.
Around four thousand years of history passed sense the promise of that redeemer. Sense the promise of the serpent crusher.
Essha though,t soon.
Genesis 4:1 (NASB95) — 1 Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of the Lord.”
Genesis 5:28–29 (NASB95) — 28 Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and became the father of a son. 29 Now he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from the ground which the Lord has cursed.”
נׄחַ [Noach /no·akh/] n Noah = “rest”
Was Lamech anticipating that his son was the anointed one, the serpent crusher?
At the end of Chapter 4 of Genesis  we read
&Genesis 4:26 (NASB95) — 26 To Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.
And then by time we get to Genesis 6 some thousand years later man is corrupted, and the content of his heart was only evil continually.
Did man get tired of waiting for the serpent crusher?
Have we gotten weary of waiting ourselves as the world is worsening with evil all about us asking ourselves
“Where is the Lord?”
&2 Peter 3:3–9 (NASB95) — 3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
We have a word in Revelation
&Revelation 1:1 (NASB95) — 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,
5034 τάχος [tachos /takh·os/] n n. From the same as 5036; GK 5443; Seven occurrences; AV translates as “shortly + 1722” four times, “quickly + 1722” twice, and “speedily + 1722” once. 1 quickness, speed.[1]
When the events begin in Revelation with the breaking of the seals, things are done in quick succession as it was the plagues must have hit Egypt.
Prior to Battle there is the build up of forces. Things seem quiet or even that war might be averted. There is the quiet before the storm. But when battle happens it is quick and swift.
When two forces are going head-to-head, each side is seeking advantage by setting the tempo of operation. This is to keep the other side off balanced. The side that sets the tempo is the side that is ruling the battle. In battle the side that is reacting is the side that is in the defense mode.
@Point of Doctrine:

1.      Jesus was never on the defense mode.

2.      Jesus is never on the defense mode.

3.      Jesus will never be on the defense mode.

4.      Righteousness does not react to unrighteousness, it the wicked that reacts negatively to that which always was, and that is the goodness and righteousness of God.

There are times when Satan seems to be setting the tempo, but no, Satan is reacting every step of the way as Jesus under the authority of His heavenly Father is setting the tempo of battle.
Even in his weakened human state, Jesus is in complete control of the situation.
“Immediately” then is the attack mode of the spirit of God. He knows His mission. He does not bide his time. He does waist time by finding things to entertain himself and passing the time that he is given.
Immediately the Lord by the dictates of the Pneuma takes the battle to the enemy.
@Point of Application

1.      What is your mode of operation as a Christian that is part of the angelic conflict?

2.      While you are biding your time, passing time, your enemy is in full maneuvers and to the extent that you are asleep and unwatchful, your enemy is forming up.

&1 Peter 5:8–10 (NASB95) — 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

3.      The sleeping enemy is always left in the defense mode when the attack happens.

4.      The unprepared fights from a position of weakness rather than fighting from a position of strength.

5.      Who sets the tempo in your life?

a.      Is it the same spirit that immediately impelled Jesus to go to the wilderness to be tested?

b.      Or is it your lazy carnal nature that simply goes through life trying to find ways to be entertained and passing the time away?

6.      If you do not take the battle to the enemy as you are being prepared daily in training having your spiritual priorities in place, the battle will come to you when you are least prepared.

7.      If we are to be imagers of Christ, then our lives and our mission should be in a state of full alert and immediacy.

Note that Jesus does not take the initiative upon himself, but it is the newly acquired anointing Spirit that is doing the dictating.
Mark 1:12 (NASB95) — 12 Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness.
ἐκβάλλω [ekballo /ek·bal·lo/] v

Ballo = to throw or cast

Ek = out from

Jesus is cast out into the wilderness, a direction that is least taken by others. It is a harsh environment. An environment which is compatible to the negative volition of man.
&Genesis 3:17–18 (NASB95) — 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life. 18 “Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field;
&Genesis 4:11–12 (NASB95) — 11 “Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 “When you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you; you will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.”
The wilderness is the result of man’s negative volition. And while man seeks to distance himself from the very environment which he himself created by his rebellion against God, Jesus is cast right into to be test by the evil one.
