This Week’s Theme: Growing in Purity
Memory Verse: Leviticus 18:4 “4 You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God.”
This Week’s Word is Holy: Believers are holy, in that they are called to be set apart from the world as God’s own people. Likewise certain days and articles are holy because they are set apart for God alone.
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: The LORD called for the children of Israel to refuse to live according to either the Egyptian nor the Canaanite lifestyles, but to live according to His judgments, ordinances, and statutes.
Sermon Objective: I want those in attendance to refuse to live according to the world’s way of living and to actively pursue living according to God’s standards.
Sermon Text: Leviticus 18:1-5
Leviticus 18:1–5 NKJV
1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances. 4 You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God. 5 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.
Introduction:
Transition:

Big Idea of the Text: As Christians, you should never allow the world to shape you, but rather allow God to shape you through observing and obeying His judgments and ordinances.

I. Saints Live Unaltered By the World

Exposition (What does that mean? Explain it): Hear the confession of Joseph! After being presented before the king as a someone who could interpret his dream, Joseph did not allow the gravity of this situation to overtake his rational thinking.

DON’T LIVE ACCORDING TO THEIR ROUTINE

Leviticus 18:3 NKJV
3 According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances.

DON’T LIVE ACCORDING TO THEIR RULES

Leviticus 18:3 NKJV
3 According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances.
