For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
2. We are to love God.
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:5)
Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37)
3. God wants us to love one another.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)
