Matthew 15:21-28

Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
But He answered her not a word.
Isn’t it like the Lord sometimes to be silent in our times of trouble.
We pray about something---and NO answer.
Maybe you are like the Cannanite- UNNAMED WOMAN standing out like a sore thumb serving Jesus and pleading for her daughter/ children/ illness
Maybe you’ve tried everything in your faith journey and this is your last resort
and God has you in crazy uncharted waters. Not the likely one to be in
or maybe because of my past he is not answering
But in desperate situations you don’t care- all vainness is thrown out the window.
Look at this passage- Look at how significant the order of operations are- we are not solving a math problem- but her is worth mentioning.
She cries out- Request for mercy- Elevate Jesus, ‘oh LOrd, Son of David... before she even makes her request
We are so quick to make our request known- let’s elevate God. Let’s open our mouths and declare who God Is!
24- And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
“They are like---she is embarrassing us-”
“Her cry and her plea stands out”
Don’t judge other’s worship- “it doesn’t have to be all like that.”
You don’t know what people have gone through and they owe everything to the living God.
People often times come against you because your faith/ your worship is so extravagant
And say “See your God does not answer”
People are say--- “Just stop”
Your faith isn’t sufficient
this is a lost cause...
You are making a bunch of racket
Stop it
If the Jesus’s Chosen 12 did it--- you will encounter some nay sayers today
24- But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the except lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
He was not there to preach and reach the Gentiles first- but to reach the Jew first— but the Jewish people did not receive him...
In essence Jesus telling her— lady I don’t have time for you. I have an agenda and you are not on that agenda.
25-Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
Get your worship on. Get prostrated before the Lord. Don’t hold back your worship when you have not received your answer.
I may not have answer.
Push. Pray. Believe.
There are numerous men and women in the Bible that had not their answer— but they pushed- they worshipped.
They weren't worshipping the answer—they were worshipping the God who had the answer.
You better worship the LIVING GOD who holds your answer.
Most people hold back their worship: their crying out when God is silent but think of it as your process and trust the Lord your God.
This lady’s daughter life depended on it!
What is in the balance in your life?
How desperate are you for God to touch your situation?
What needs just one touch from God?
Your breakthrough is contingent on your worship- your praise
I love how she begins with a cry— and by verse 25 she ends up with a worship.
Some of us start with a pity cry--- but you need to end up in worship
You need to end up at jesus feet
You need to end up in worship.
26- But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
Now Jesus is calling her dog!
Gentiles were called dogs by the Jews. It wasn’t offensive; it was common speech! It merely expressed that Gentiles were outside the covenant rights of Israel.
According to history, dogs were not cared for when grown in the East.
Explain how Bread here is referred to the benefits of God’s children.
The Dake Bible commentary says, Their bread here refers to the benefits that the Messiah was to bring to them, which included salvation for the body, soul and spirit salvation from sin, sickness, demons and satanic powers. These are family rights, legal rights, promised rights, human rights, divine rights, and redemptive rights of all children of God. Children can have whole loaves if dogs can have crumbs
come on somebody preach.
27- And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
I love this woman’s quick-wittedness
Call me a dog- Call me desperate- But I AM WILLING TO HAVE THE CRUMBS. I CHOOSE TO TAKE THE CRUMBS LORD.
I JUST NEED ONE CRUMB LORD,JUST ONE!
28-Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
