Last week we talked about things that you are not content with in your life and I asked what it would take to happen for someone to make a lasting change in their life.
I focus on changing your mind
Romans 12:2 ESV
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
What we are going to go over the next 6 weeks is health in the different parts of your life.
Spiritual Health
Physical Health
Mental Health
Emotional Health
Relational Health
Financial Heath
Vocational Health
How does everyone feel like they are doing in their spiritual health?
How often do you think about your relationship with God,
What dose being spiritually healthy mean?
You cant measure it or give a percentage. How does anyone know?
You cannot begin to begin to talk about spiritual health unless you are a believer.
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
There can be no talk of spiritual health at all unless you accept Jesus sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins.
All of the other healths in the list that we are going over will apply to people at some level.
This one only applies to Christians
Colossians 2:13–14 ESV
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
What do you think a believer has to do to be spiritually healthy?
Part of your life needs to be dedicated to making sure you are growing spiritually.
Read the Bible,
Study it
Joshua 1:8 ESV
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Pray to God
Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Obey his commands
John 14:23 ESV
Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
James 1:22 ESV
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Which ones of these are the hardest for you?
Studying,
Praying
Obeying
When doing 1 of these things they help encourage you to do the others. Both studying and praying themselves must lead to obedience.
What does spiritual health looks like on the outside?
Galatians 5:22–24 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Are you seeing yourself act with more love
with more patience
are you kind,
do you love good
are you faithful, gentle and have self control
I got a lot to change but I do believe that there has been progress in all of these areas.
John 1:12–13 ESV
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
1 John 4:4 ESV
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
Romans 5:3–6 ESV
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Are you in tune with where you are?
How do you know?
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
