Our goal is to grow in spiritual strength to a greater stamina and ability of sharing spiritual truth with others.
So that on your journey you grow in your ability to communicate with a greater ability eternal truth.
We have authority as a believer.
Your authority, as a believer, is in correlated to your humility, obedience, and your private prayer life.
2 Peter 1:5–9 KJV 1900
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Diligence = this isnt a casual endeavor
Knowledge =
Temperance
Patience
They abound = Increasing perpetually
You will not be unfruitful
Church in Revelation
that I may behold wondrous things
If you don’t diligently add - you wont be able to discern eternity
you will forget where you were and where you are going
Do you want to see things from God’s perspective
add to your faith virtue;
and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance;
and to temperance patience;
Patience = The ability to joyfully accept and embrace suffering as from God.
Joseph embraced his suffering
accepted and embraced
All your suffering has redemptive value inside it
God can use even your failures to teach eternal lessons
There is never a trial in your life that God yields His authority.
How do you accept and embrace suffering
James 1:2–4 KJV 1900
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
A message to the redeemed
count = account it to be so
Joy = a calm rejoicing
temptations = adversity
You can be calm because God is calm and sovereign
Recon it so that you can still trust God in the suffering
Knowing this = we know some things
he that has begun a good work in me
the trying = the trial, the adversity
they should not overthrow our faith
they are to harden and test our faith
Legos = building and trying
Worketh patience = All the trials of your faith are working endurance in you
It’s working in you so you can handle what is coming
We are never going to be without trials
Victory is when we can be joyful through our trials and testing
We are in school and God is teaching
When you go through a trial we should learn through the trial
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Perfect = mature
God is checking you through the tests He brings into your life
These test help us know where we are at
Dont you want to know your progress in your spiritual life?
When you go through a test or trial and you fight and get mad and angry and discontent - you are not letting patience work in you and you are not allowing God to mature you.
It’s like the child who should be studying for a test but instead is crying and fighting that he has to take a test
Then when the test comes your not ready and you fail the test
We have to allow our heart to learn through what God brings into our life.
The world doesnt need a Christian who doesnt have problems
Wanting nothing = When someone realizes that Jesus is all they have, they also realize Jesus is all they need.
Christ is all I need,
Christ is all I need,
All, all I need,
Christ is all I need,
Christ is all I need,
All, all I need.
He was crucified,
For me He died, on Calvary.
That He loved me so,
This is why I know,
Christ is all I need.
Through your trial you’ll see if Christ is all you need
We go through so much emotional pain and heartache when we don’t understand He’s all we need
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold - would we really?
Patience Is The Apprehension of Perseverance
I will persevere the patient believer says
2 Timothy 3:11–13 KJV 1900
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
How long would we persevere in those conditions?
“I endured”
2 Thessalonians 1:4 KJV 1900
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
It’s amazing how the churches are persevering
Patience and faith are not present if we are griping and complaining
Do we think we’re tough but not really...
The greatest thing we can pass on is enduring faith.
2 Timothy 2:3 KJV 1900
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
When you cry dont consider quitting
Fight the fight, keep the faith, endure affliciton, run the race, finish the course
We don’t have to run perfectly - we just need to finish
Finish your course - there will be bumps and bruises
but you don’t have to quit
The type of friends you need are the ones that will tell you not to quit the christian race youre
2 Timothy 2:10 KJV 1900
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
I endure for you
Well, is that a good enough reason - was for the apostle Paul
Your adversity is not just about you, it’s for others too.
God will put you in trials to grow you and grow others
You are at your best when you don’t have an answer - you can find that in prayer
You are at your best when there is no light - you will seek the Lord, the light of the world and the light of His word
Psalm 119:71 KJV 1900
71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; That I might learn thy statutes.
We have Bible studies, Sunday School - comfortable atmosphere but it will all be tried.
2 Timothy 4:5 KJV 1900
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
endure afflictions = we are all men of God
Endure and shine the Gospel
If we can only talk about Jesus when things are comfortable, Jesus is not on the throne of your life
James 5:10–11 KJV 1900
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. 11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Consider the prophets
Able
Abraham
Joseph - the slavery, loneliness, the lies, bondage
Moses - Preaching to the most powerful a very uncomfortable message
Daniel - Lions Den
Hananiah - The Furnace
Mishael
Azariah
Want to be happy ? Endure
The patience of Job - could you endure?
Where is God?
Still on His throne
Job didn't sin with his lips
God has the right to do anything He wants with Kaleb Hall - I’m bought with a price
My response should be
The end times are here and the end of time is coming.
1 Peter 2:19–21 KJV 1900
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
The expectation is to suffer for your wrongs
The supernatural is to suffer wrongfully and endure
Look at Jesus’ supernatural
who for the joy that was set before him
coming out of a trial, in a trial, or going in a trial
I choose to suffer joyfully and I know you will still be God
Philippians 1:29 KJV 1900
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Suffer for his sake may mean that as you are going through a trial you are being purged or fashioned - and you’ve decided that it’s going to be for Jesus that you endure joyfully.
More of Jesus being seen in you
More knowledge of His suffering
Keep adding patience to your faith = you will be a brighter light of the Gospel and eternal truth
