God’s word is very powerful and able to be very effective for any situation we find ourselves in. In fact the Bible tells us in Jeremiah 1:10–12 (AMP)
10See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.
11Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said, I see a branch or shoot of an almond tree [the emblem of alertness and activity, blossoming in late winter].
12Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.
God’s word is effective. So why does it seem at times that it doesn’t work?
We need to make sure that we do not limit the work of God with doubt, unbelief because that would not be good.
Mark 7:6–13 NIV
6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” 9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ 11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)—12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

Following the Traditions of Men Make God’s Word Ineffective!

We must be careful to not negate the power of the Word of God because we are much more comfortable with old traditions of men. We must trust God more than we trust ourselves.
Romans 4:13–15 MEV
13 It was not through the law that Abraham and his descendants received the promise that he would be the heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the law become heirs, faith would be made void and the promise nullified, 15 because the law produces wrath, for where there is no law, there is no sin.

Not Operating in Faith Makes the Word Ineffective!

1 Corinthians 1:17–18 ESV
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
