faith is tested by fire

we suffer through great many trials

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Matthew 16:24 -25 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”

Matthew 10:16-17 “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;”

Why

John 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

deeds done by men believe are good. This is the “Human Nature”

Deeds or works over grace cannot be attributed to God as righteousness because they deny the glory of God

Types of Temptations

James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

Christ already earned life and not we ourself

These testing reveal life

James 1:13-14 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”

Trials and test come to drive us toward Christ

Whatever circumstance I find myself God’s grace is able to deliver me

Following a trial I never come through thanking more highly of myself, but thanking God for his grace and love

What does the Bible say about trials?

They are a gift from God, because they are always accompanied by His grace

Evidence of His blessing -blessed are you when men shall persecute you and say all manor of evil about you for my sake

Evidence of His love-Hebrew 12 God chastens every son and daughter He loves

They work for our good- Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The Be attitudes

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
