Jesus demonstrates how he fulfils the Old Testament by teaching about the true purpose of the Old Testament divorce regulations. He teaches against abuses of marriage, and spouses, which the law was designed to protect. He shows the very high value of marriage, and the severe damage adultery causes. And all of this points us towards Christ as the groom of the church. He is always faithful, and he purifies and cleanses his bride, the church.
