Introduction:
Recap Morning Session.
Article entitled “Hunger Makes A Good Meal.” Here’s what it says;
“The French have a proverb, which states, “A good meal ought to begin with hunger.” It is hard to enjoy a meal when you are not yet hungry. But, when you are hungry, anything tastes good.”
Turn and Talk: What do you feel like when your hungry? When you’re not hungry?
Point: Devoted to feeding ourselves the Word of God.
Hebrews 5:12–14 CSB
Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God’s revelation again. You need milk, not solid food. Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced with the message about righteousness, because he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature—for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish between good and evil.
(Pray)
Get Off The Milk:
Story of a baby growing.
Our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ should start with milk, but shouldn’t stay there.
We need parents, pastors, small group leaders, friends and mentors, but we shouldn’t depend on them for our growth.
Moving From Milk to Meat:
1.) Have an authentic faith:
Psalm 139:2 CSB
You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away.
2.) Allow the Bible to shape you:
Hebrews 4:12 CSB
For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
“Not being in God’s Word disconnects you from the power source of Jesus Christ.”
3.) Remove Distractions:
Hebrews 12:1 CSB
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,
4.) Have A Friend/Mentor That Holds You Accountable:
Hebrews 10:24–25 CSB
And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
Close:
We need to examine ourselves.
Use Your Sword
Depend on God.
