Mark 1:9–11 CSB
9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. 10 As soon as he came up out of the water, he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.”

The Jewish people held Nazareth and the region of Galilee in Low Esteem (Pocatello)

Christ’s Baptism

Mark 1:9 (CSB)

Baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins
If Jesus is God and therefore without sin, then what was his need for baptism?
It was the father’s will that Jesus identify with Man and the problem of sin from the very outset of Christ’s ministry.

He had no sins of his own to confess. Rather he was proclaiming his identity with human nature, weakness, and sin

Mark 1:11 CSB
11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well-pleased.”
Mark 1:11 (CSB)

The Triune Nature of Our God

The Trinity is a Revealed Truth through the word of God
The Forgotten Trinity A Basic Definition

Within the one Being that is God, there exists eternally three coequal and coeternal persons, namely, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

There Is Only One God

Deuteronomy 6:4 CSB
4 “Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
“Declare and set forth your case; indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:21–22).

There are Three Divine Persons

Matthew 28:18–19 CSB
18 Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Each of the persons are referrenced as God.
Are spoeken of in personal pronouns
and as seen in Christ’s baptism, act independently of one another.

The Persons Are Coequal and Coeternal

2 Corinthians 13:13 CSB
13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
“God” can refer to the Father, to the Son, to the Spirit, or to all three persons at once,

The Triune God of Our Salvation

Titus 3:4–7 CSB
4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, 5 he saved us—not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy—through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. 6 He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
