This Week’s Theme: Growing in Praise
Memory Verse: Psalm 95:1 “1 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.”
This Week’s Word is Praise: The celebration, honoring and adoration of God, in the power of the Holy Spirit, whether by individual believers or communities of believers.
Essence of the Text in a Sentence: The psalmist called for followers of the LORD to learn from the mistakes of those who came out of Egypt traveling to the Promised land and worship and praise Him for who He is and what He has done.
Lesson Objective: I want you to evaluate your weekly, daily, and hourly praise of God and look for and make positive changes in how and why you praise Him.
Lesson Title: Lifting Up God Together
I. Believers’ Should Praise God Together (95:1–7).
A. For His creative works (95:4–5): He created and controls:
1. The dry land (95:5): His hands formed it.
2. The sea (95:5): It belongs to Him.
3. The mountains and the depths (95:4): Everything belongs to Him.
B. For His redemptive works (95:1–3, 6–7)
1. He is the rock of salvation (95:1–3) Don’t Rebel, Reverence Him (95:8–9): In spite of God’s mighty miracles, Israel refused to obey him. Respond by singing with joy to God for what He has done for us.
2. He is the shepherd of the sheep (95:6–7) Don’t Repeat, Repent (95:10–11) Respond by kneeling down before God and worship Him for His care.
What is God telling you to do from this text?
Are you guilty of overlooking what God has done in your life?
Are you guilty of complaining rather than praising God?
What do you need to repent of today? Be specific
Share the steps that you will take to shout joyfully to the Lord?
Sermon Text: Jeremiah 1:1-9; 16-19
“A God-sent Preacher”
Jeremiah 1:1- 9
Jeremiah 1:1–9 NKJV
1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, 2 to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. 3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. 4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord. 9 Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
Jeremiah 1:16–19 NKJV
16 I will utter My judgments Against them concerning all their wickedness, Because they have forsaken Me, Burned incense to other gods, And worshiped the works of their own hands. 17 “Therefore prepare yourself and arise, And speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed before their faces, Lest I dismay you before them. 18 For behold, I have made you this day A fortified city and an iron pillar, And bronze walls against the whole land— Against the kings of Judah, Against its princes, Against its priests, And against the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you.
