I. Introduction

1. The value of sharing a meal with others.

With family
With friends
With potential romantic partners
With potential business partners

2. Things I’ve learned over meals.

How much I love my wife.
How funny my children are.
Life stories.
Hidden secrets.
The character of others (in restaurants)
To share a meal with someone is to share your life with them.

II. Text: Revelation 19:1-10

1. Vv. 1-5

The destruction of Babylon is complete and eternal.
Reminder of what Babylon represents.
There is worship in heaven (24 elders & 4 living creatures) because God has destroyed the evil of Babylon.
God will have justice over the unjust world.

2. Vv. 6-10

a. The noise

The sound of many waters and peals of thunder.
The loudest things John could likely think of.
The roar of a crowd.
Like when you go to the concession stand during a big game and you hear the crowd go wild.
The sound of the great wedding feast will be simultaneously deafening and beautiful.

b. The marriage of the Lamb has come.

Jesus promised back in John 14.
This isn’t just some meal, this is a party.
Like when you share a meal with someone after winning some great acheievement.
There’s no meal quite like the celebration meal.

c. The bride’s garments.

The church is the bride.
Fine linen represents purity and righteousness.
God’s work and our obedience.
Commentator Kendell Easley writes, “Throughout Christian history, every holy attitude and good deed prompted by God’s grace have been woven into the tapestry of the bride’s attire.”

d. John and the angel

God alone is to be worshipped.
Because of Christ, we’re invited to the party!
The sacrifice of Christ is your invitation to the greatest party, the greatest feast ever thrown.

III. The Feast

You are invited, will you go?
Can you imagine what it will be like?...
You have been given an invitation to the biggest party the universe will ever see. Will you RSVP?
