Matthew 16:21–28 ESV
21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” 24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
Matthew 16:21–28 RVR60
In 16.1 The pharisees and Sadducees ask him to see a sign from heaven.
But they want to “see” that sign according to earthly standards.
Jesus came to set our minds on something way more profound
There are 2 worlds who oppose each other
You walk in 2 realities
2 Corinthians 10:3 ESV
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
2 Corinthians 10:3 RVR60
3 Pues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne;
Ephesians 6.12 We do not Wrestle with flesh and blood
In 2016 a news article came out that in silicon valley many people began to become obsessed with the idea that we are living in two realities. Two unamed billionares employed teams of scientist to break out of this reality! Elon Musk
Verse 13: Who do “People” Say that I AM?
Verse 15: Who do “You” Say that I AM?
You choose which reality you are going to live and operate in
You Choose which frequency you will connect to!
You can see the difference between someone operating in the earthly Frequency and someone operating in the SPIRIT!
Pharisees: They were totally devoted to the exact observance of the Jewish religion. “DOCTOR of the LAW” Doctrine!
becoming active around 150 BC and enduring as a distinct party until being subsumed into the Rabbinic movement around 135 AD.
The Pharisee spirit:
Questioned Jesus
Questioned the move of GOD
Always asking Why
Wanting proof, signs that they can see,
Wanting it to make sense in their minds
This is not how we have always done it!
Strongly observe the tradition of man.
Looking to entrap Jesus with his words (Manipulation of speech)
But Jesus calls them out and says “Brood of Vipers” “Generacion de viboras”
Luke 18:9–14 ESV
9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Luke 18:9–14 RVR60
The pharisee spirit says “Them, They”
But when you are connected and walking in the HOLY SPIRIT: You say: Change ME, Seek MY Heart, Try with ME, Change ME!
Psalm 51:1–12 ESV
1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:1–12 RVR60
Peter, The same Peter Jesus had just commended him for having a Revelation of who he was!
Now a few sentences later: Get behind me Satan! You are a hinderance!
You can receive the revelation of Jesus but decide to walk in the flesh.
Talking in the flesh.
Matthew 16.23 Set Your MIND on the Things of GOD!
Where have you SET YOUR MIND TODAY?
Colossians 3:1–2 ESV
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Colossians 3:1–2 RVR60
Philippians 4:8 ESV
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8 RVR60
Romans 12:2 ESV
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2 RVR60
Romans 8:5–11 ESV
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:5–11 RVR60
Isaiah 26:3 ESV
3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
Isaiah 26:3 RVR60
1 John 2:15–17 ESV
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:15–17 RVR60
James 3:15–17 ESV
15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
James 3:15–17 RVR60
