Intro:

You frequently speaks of the fear of the Lord.
Fear as in I’m terrified God is going to haunt me, but fear as in reference. Respect, honor. Understanding who you and I are in light of Eternity.
Revelation 4 NIV
After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “ ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

The Day of the Lord is coming!

Imagine with me for a minute, slipping from this life into the next. The Weight of Pain, Sin, fear, begins to dissipate as you realize that you are no longer in your body. You are thinking, and moving, but its different, because you are without a body for a period of time. It’s good but strange. Next thing you know you are rushing towards God.
You arrive in His presence and you begin to see Him.
Laid out before you is a Sea of Glass. It is a crystal Ocean, that is refracting light in every way, creating around the throne a rainbow that appears like an emerald. At the center of the throne is a person who appears like Jasper and Carnelian. Around the Throne are 24 other thrones with 24 elders clothed in white with golden crowns on their heads.
From this throne comes flashes of lightning with great peals of thunder.
Before this throne are 7 torches representing the 7 Spirits of God. Now when we say 7 spirits we are not talking about 7 different persons, but rather 7 distinct Character traits that God Possesses. We see these 7 traits in Isaiah:
Isaiah 11:1–5 NIV
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
1) The Spirit of the LORD 2) The Spirit of wisdom 3) The Spirit of understanding 4) The Spirit of counsel 5) The Spirit of power 6) The Spirit of knowledge 7) The Spirit of the fear of the Lord
In Revelation this reference to the 7 Spirits is a reference to the Perfection of the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Who are these Elders that we see?
We don’t know. Some speculate that they are angelic, but Angels aren’t typically used to in Ruling in Scripture. They Serve they Assist but nowhere does it say they rule. On the other, there are several where God talks about humans ruling, with God. So some believe these are church elders, or maybe select Martyrs. But ultimately we are not sure. But we know they are there to help God rule.
Judgment is coming. The King is Coming!
It is true that we, humanity as a whole are marching towards the throne of the Living God. That is your destiny. That is your fate.
Hebrews 9:27–28 NIV
Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Here you and I stand before the perfect justice of God. In that moment I imagine we will all pause and cry, Have mercy
You and I will Either Reject Christ or we will follow Him. Depending on what we choose will depend on what we hear from Jesus on that day:
To the One Who rejected the Cross
Matthew 7:23 NIV
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
To the one who ran after Jesus
Matthew 25:23 NIV
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

It is the Cross of Christ, That Changes Everything

Hebrews 9:27–28 NIV
Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Matthew 16:24 NIV
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
In Order for us to confidently enter into the kingdom we must know Christ.
Are we right with Jesus?
Is their a wall between you and Jesus this morning?
