Last week:

Discussed the need to understand who are enemies are and what we are up against.
Discussed the origin of Satan, who he was in heaven, what he is described to look like.

This week:

Satan means adversary, accuser (LEGAL accuser) The term/name of Satan is also interchangeable with DIABOLOS or translated Devil. This term is used more than 30 times in the New Testament.
Satan is also called “the dragon” “the old serpent” Rev 12:9; Rev 20:2
“the prince of this world” John 12:31; John 14:30
“the prince of the power of the air” “the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience” Eph 2:2
“the God of this world” 2 Cor 4:4 “Beelzebub- the prince of the devils” Matt 12:24

Satan is the constant enemy of God, Of Christ, of the divine kingdom, of the followers of Christ, of all truth

Satan is full of falsehood and all malice!

**Satan is charismatic and exciting being who seduces humans to evil in every possible way....

Make no mistake in underestimating Satan’s great power in this world.

1 Peter 5:6-11 Seeking whom he may devour

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

2 Timothy 2:23-26 Men are taken captive by him

23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

2 Cor 2:10-11

10 Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, 11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

James 4:7-8 Resist the devil

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Heb 2:14-15

14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Christ redeems His people from “him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
*Satan has the power of death, NOT as lord, BUT SIMPLY AS EXECUTIONER.

Final Thoughts today:

Some followers of Christ mistakenly think that Satan has the same attributes and abilities of God, such as:

God’s Omnipresence- His access to the whole of creation at all times

God’s Omniscience- All Knowing

God’s Omnipotence-His Power

This belief is a great lie that is perpetrated by Satan himself. Satan wants you to believe that he is equal to or greater than God.
