Funeral of Miss Shriley

I don’t look at this as a funeral but more so as a face to face service . Miss Shirley is face to face with Christ.

I don’t say that in a superficial way but a very real way. A absolute way .

People don’t like doing funerals because theres a part of themselves they don’t like to come to grips with.

No amount of alcholhe , drugs , youtube , social media can suppress the reality of death.

Thoughts regrading Miss Shirley

She was a women of great humility . She was one of the rare few who would ask sincere questions about God and the Bible. She was very contemplative.

She was the Mother of the church literally . Young guys would come in with there pants hanging down she was check them.

She was serious about the things of God. Sometimes we think the Pastor is the most spiritual person in the Building sometimes thats not always the case . Allot times its a miss Shirley praying loving .

When we think about death we see life how it should be seen.

We see the severity and the results of the fallen man.

We feel empty confused and lost.

Death forces us to contemplate life. How we’ve been governing our lives and how we lived our lives .

1 Cor. 15:41-42 “There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.”

There are many different spectrums of glory, many different sides to glory . They are different degrees of glory .

Examples of Gods glory

Matt 17 - Jesus was transfigured ( He changed His form) The same word is used for metamorphis

This was Jesus in all his glory the radiance was there, His face shined like the sun.

Then Peter witnessing Elijah and Moses w/ Jesus there. He said “ Lord is wonderful for us to be here!” he wanted to build a memorial for the three of them.

God the Father split the clouds, and said this is my beloved Son who brings me great joy here Him.

The disciples became afraid and fell on there face .

Then Jesus came over and touched them and said fear not . This is another spectrum of Gods Glory !!

366 times in the Bible it says fear not

Psalm 118:6 “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Is. 43:5 “Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, And gather you from the west;”

2 Tim 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

The reason why we fear because we lack security.

The body is going to break down . Thats the design of the body . Sown in corruption, Thats speaks of the breaking down of the body .

Incorruptibe - doesnt decay or break down.

This natural body is fallen , broken , corruptible, weak, limited.

Theres nothing glorious about the natural body so Gods going to give us a glorified body.

Its interesting that death is the great equalizer.

Brokenness- dishonor , disgrace - Its incredible the things we do to perserve our bodies.

Our souls cleave to the dust . Our souls hold on to this world as if this is all that there is.
