As believers we tend to lack control.
We realize the older we get the more we understanding how much is out of our control.
But we can lack even the proper control to walk with God. Which is the basics of this life.
Proverbs 16:32-33 “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. v33 The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the Lord.”
The greatest accomplisment of a King is to rule a city.
The domain God has given us to rule over is our souls .
No longer are we going to be people who say we are barely getting by.
This false humility .
We have a form of godliness but we lack the power of God in our walk with God.
Sometimes we act like things are okay but in reality things are not okay.
Turn to
John 10:17-18 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
Jesus said,
I lay down my life
I take take it again
I lay down of Myself
I have power to lay it down
I have power to take it again
Jesus had authority over His own destiny. He was Sovereign
Jesus wasn’t a helpless pawn on history’s chessboard. He was in complete control.
He has the will, strength, and ability.
Imagine that kind of authority over yourself.
I chose when I’m angry
Having the ability to I say no to this, and say yes to God.
romans 6:2 “Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”
Death to sin doesn’t mean extinction to sin be means separation.
Death to sin is separation from sins power not extinction to sin.
Sin doesn’t have power its still there but has has power.
Being dead to sin means you have been set free from sin.
Romans 6:18 “And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”
Romans 6:22 “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.”
The Emancipation Proclamation was issued Jan. 1 1863 , That declared all men/women to be free from slavery. But slavery didn’t officially end in Texas unto Jun 19th 1965. Because there was no union soldiers who had boots on the ground to communicate that they where free
Its the same way with some of us . we’’ve been set free . God declares our freedom, but we continue to live as if we are enslave. We’ve been sit free. we’ve died.
Paul wants us to know four things in this chapter . ‘ Reckon , Yield , Serve.”
This is the process to sanctification .
Reckon logizomai calculate, -Count to my charge, Count and keep on counting ! , to consider Romans 6:11 “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Paul came to a logical conclusion about suffering in this present world .
Rom 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
I’ve died
Gal 2:19-20 “For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Romans 6:6 “knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”
The Law has died
Col 2:14 “having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”
What fruit did your previous life produce.
Romans 6:21-22 “What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.”
A relationship with Jesus leads to activity not inactivity.
The Fathers relationship to Jesus led to Jesus being willing to lay down His life for the sheep.
