Psalms 37
Psalms 37
Here David looks back on his life and shares his experiences when dealing with evildoers
David also knew what it meant to do the Will of God, delight himself in God, especially, when a Mighty Spirit of God was given to help him- read;
1 Sam 16:13
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
Because of this Mighty Spirit of God, [we know today as being born again or being saved] gave David a strong discerning spirit, helping him understand trouble and was able to share his experiences with us today through his writings in the Psalms
On the other hand, with this Spirit of God in him -David also knew what it was like to be broken before God. Ps 51 because of Sin, like the story of David and Bathsheba, Adultery & Murder didn't mix well with the Holy Spirit, which ended up making the David we read about in the scripture’s. God, like the many other people of the bible, how their lives were put on display for everyone to see. God did this for us to know and serve Him better.
I find David’s life, quite inspiring, a man like you and I, yet so much more in a sense- showing us, how he always managed to bounced back after falling, able to get back on his feet, excepting his punishment, and keep on moving forward-always keeping God as chief in his life, not blaming God, or finding fault with God. Instead, praising and worshiping God as Creator---even God said of David- read;
After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’
What’s even more incredible, about Davids life-that God’s Spirit filled both Samuel & David’s life-pointing to the Coming Messiah- this action goes as far back in History 1105-1013 B.C. in the life of Samuel Then David's life time 1011-971 B.C. and some where near the end of his reign he wrote Psalm 37
This Psalm, would echo ---1000 years past David’s life time--- Jesus is born 4 B.C. coming from the line of David! Throw out David’s writings had Jesus present in them. Like all the scripture’s, we can see the life of Jesus’es presence’s in them-from Creation when the Apostle John said in
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
Then to the close chapter of Rev 22:16-21
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
Wow, Jesus is God and is coming back, so ‘Do Not Fret’
Think David knew what do Not Fret Meant, is an understatement- when looking at the life of Jesus, who would be, at the end of His life, crucified by evildoers.
Although, this was just a small part of the big picture as we look at 2022 we can say what it means to Fret! Like David and Jesus teaching us today how not to Fret Ps 37 ‘Do Not Fret’ and why? Because of evildoers.
I don’t know about you, but 2022 evildoers are taking over-shaping up in becoming Satan’s playground.
For me, I most noticed things seeming more out of sorts than usual and from there seemed to go down hill. Started during the hatred toward Trump from the start of his presidency; the Media slanting the stories to fit their narratives; the start of the Covid-19 pandemic; the so called Expects; the mask wearing; the fear tactic's; names started apearing like Bill Gates, Fauci, Soros, WHO, CDC, FDA, Trudeau, and all the little people doing their bidding; Trump winning a second term, then the Presidency, over night given to Biden & Harris; Biden and Harris wins, whom both are so not able to be in their roles as President and VP; Suddenly the things Trump did, they started undoing; fast forward to 2022 and today we can very likely be looking at World War III--- Hum? Sure sounds and looks like bible prophecy happening?
At this point, I think the biggest and most reliable source to put my faith, because I just don’t trust the globe voice being sold through the Goverments and their puppet Media form. So, when it comes to know what to believe is true or not, I go directly to my bible for truth. Certainly not what I see on the news networks, Governments and their so called Expects, Billionaires, media’s,-You Tube, Facebook, Tweeter, Google, etc. all have one thing in common --- don’t even know they are doing Satan’s bidding! Rom 1:24, 26, 2 Thess 2:9-11, Ps 81:11-12,
The Bible is crystal clear on that fact. Imagine, being apart of evildoers and not know your on the wrong side? That is got to be the most scariest thing-God giving up on us and handing us over to Satan to do his evil bidding!
On the Other hand, Jesus warned us about evildoers and that if we want to follow Him we will be persecuted by them. He told us ahead of time, it wasn’t going to be easy, but ‘Do Not Fret”
He also said, we will have troubles in this life, but take heart Jesus has overcome the world John 16:33 ‘Do Not Fret’
Hum, yes, Jesus over came the world, but it was the worldly evildoers who beat Him, mocked and crucified Him. Yet, Jesus is saying,”Do Not Fret”
Even the Apostle John warned us about not serving the world, telling us, have nothing to do with the world and if we decide to love the world, John says, the world would love us as it’s own. Yet, Jesus says, if we love the world the love of the Father isn’t in us —Hum? 1 John 2:15-16 but in John 3:16 God so loved the world he gave His only begotten Son [Jesus]
Hum? Contradiction or point being made by God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth? 1 Tim 2:1-8, God wants all his creation to come to Him, He shows us that through His Son Jesus who being in the form of a real man, yet always being God-yes, this is a mystery- like where does the sky end?
Like David said, Do Not Fret because of evildoers or be envus of those who do wrong for like the green grass they will wither and like the flower of the feild
But, “Do not to fret,” because of evildoers-Jesus rose from the Dead and is sitting at the right hand of God-just like God was with David, Jesus, who is God, is with us who believe Jesus will never/will never- He, will never leave us nor forsake us Heb 13:5-6 and besides, [Jesus] who is able to keep us from falling Jude 24
Some back history.
From David to Jesus, is 14 generations; Just before David was anointed by Samuel, history came to a cross road when the people of Israel, cried out, they wanted a King to be like the rest of the world, so God gave them Saul and ruled 40 years as King. During which time Saul started doing his own will, not God’s Will.
Then God had Samuel look for a new King to replace Saul. Of course, God already knew who that would be. Samuel then found the son of Jesse, a simple Shepard boy to be Anoint King- replacing Saul after his 40 year reign and His Death-David was crowned King.
Then, just shy of 1000 years go by and Jesus is born.
And Yet, I go back and look over Davids life time, through the scriptures, he knew well the heart ache caused by evil men at work in his life from outside forces and with in his own short comings-the struggles of being a King who severed God on the one hand, yet, between his own down falls, which brought God’s wrath upon David and his close family circle, friends and Loyal Military officials. Yet David stood firm on the other hand, through much adversity bouncing back in serving and doing the Will of God
Another thing, I found interesting about the life of David. From the time Samuel anointed David to be King of Israel. Samuel used the Horn filled with anointed oil, which then God filled David with a Mighty Holy Spirit-this spirit is the same Holy Spirit we believers receive when Born Again! Luke 1:35, Acts 1:8
Now, when David received this Mighty Holy Spirit, it was around that time, God removed the Holy-Spirit from King Saul and replaced it with an evil one. [At this point I should mention, some believe one can loose their salvation, because of this verse-- but God is much bigger than that Jude 24-25 he is able to keep us from falling…]
To continue, at which time, Saul became intensely irritated with-in his own spirit and took the advise of his royal court advising him to search for one who can play the Harp to help calm the irritation with in his body, from the evil spirit---this person they found-would be David.
So Saul brought him in as a young loyal prodigy and began to see his special talents. When David played the harp, the evil irritation would be calmed. Saul started to like having David around.
However, this would change in time, specially when Saul knew God was with David -things like when David kill Goliath the giant of a man- with just a stone and having know fighting experience, nor did he wear a protective armor. No, just a Sheppard boy walking with and trusting God to fight the fight
Saul knew David had favor in God’s eyes, as his popularity began to grow and when Saul lost favor of God, Saul began to resent David- and as time pasted, his resentment grew so much, as to want to kill David.
Yes, David started seeing the evil in people at a young age. David had many struggles in his life time.
That’s what I find so interesting about this particular Psalm 37 is that it was written when David was much older in life and it could be said, this Psalm should be classified in the Wisdom column, because, David is looking back over his life as he writes this Great Psalm.
I chose this sermon “Do Not Fret Because of Evil” because, I believe in the same manner David wrote this Psalm. As I look back at some of my experience’s in life connecting them with the knowledge of God through His Word-finding help -as they tie in perfectly -as sign post of wisdom-things learned through experience and guidance through the Word!
I can’t help but to be in awe of the wisdom God gave David in writing this psalm in particular, especially, in today generation 2022+ how it relates
Let’s switch a gear forward --Now, the Apostle John wrote the book of Revelation around A.D. 95, possibly and very likely pertaining to our day and age. The Book of Revelation has things written that are very much lining up with the events of our day and we should be taking these things very serious.
Now, if any time in history, and what we know about the horrors of the coming Tribulation period spoken by the Prophet Daniel and many other T.O. prophets. Then Psalm 37 can be applied to our day-a go to- source of hope- in how to deal with evildoers of the coming Tribulation period- the prophecies of the past, being fulfilled in our time!
Today, is the time for knowing your Bible, knowing the Doctrine of Eschatology -the study of Last Things.
2 Tim 4:3 Is a warning ---as Churches today are not teaching what we need to hear, in fear of losing members on account of wanting to hear what their itching ears want to hear, surrounding themselves with teachers to teach what they want to be taught! Looking more and more like the world 2 Tim 3:13 also warns us--- that these impostors of the faith, teaching what they alt not teach, will only go from bad to worst. The Apostle John called them Antichrist 2 John 7
But, do not Fret, what David learned about Evildoers and their outcome is as true for us today! David said;
Do Not Fret
Psalm 37:1–2 “Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb.”
Fret=greek =hrh=not to worry/don’t become angry/do not burn in side/don’t get upset/do not get heated or excited
One example; when I’m watching the Fake News, you know, people saying something you know for sure they are lying, saying what they want you to hear, for a particle agenda, instead of the truth of what is really happening. I tend to Fret, get upset, angry. I mean, can people be that evil to lie, just to have things go a certain way-even if it means the death of other people, the hardship of other people-imprisonment or loss of rights and Freedoms---for what! More money, more power , more influence over others.
No, like David, he believed God, he trusted and obeyed God, he did the will of God, so much so, that God said, he is a man after my own heart!
Today, like David, despite the presents of evil men, we have a choice, even if it seems otherwise, even if we find ourselves losing freedoms, losing rights-maybe even losing our life.
It may seem as though evil men are winning-do not Fret-it only leads to evil
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart!
Look we know anyone who desires to be a Christian will have troubles in this life time, but do not Fret John 16:33
Look, the wicked will try everything to win, get more, have plenty and will do whatever it takes to get it!
Do Not Fret, the Lord laughs at them, for He knows their end. Their life and end is but a moment here on the earth, like a flower or green grass as it withers away forever and never again to be wicked here on this earth-in fact the bible says there’s a place waiting for the wicked Rev 19:20 -completely separated from the Christian heavenly existence
Do Not Fret
Be encouraged that your names are written in the book of life, before God even started to create the heavens and the earth Rev 13:8, 17:8
Do Not Fret
I had open heart surgery and every time I feel my heart area from the scaring or just that fact that I had open heart surgery, I feel things that remind me how easy it is to just stop breathing and the life I know, the only life is over-to be no more. I start to fret, I worry about hows my wife going be without me or Preacher, our pet dog who is apart of my life or my sons, my job, our house-the things that represents who I am- will be no more! Things will be sold, donated-who knows, i won’t be apart of any of it.
David says, “Do Not Fret”
despite that David is talking about evildoers evil men-- well this also applies to the evil One-Satan who has been from the beginning trying to undo God’s plans. Those feelings of fret I experience over my mortality is because of wickedness and evil desires, just like those who cause other people to suffer, for their own greed. Gen 3
