#4 Jesus was a Man, but Much more than a Man.
#4 Jesus was a Man, but Much more than a Man.
Jesus existed prior to coming to Earth.
God has no beginning and no end. He has always existed; otherwise, He could not be God.
The Bible repeatedly and without explanation states that Jesus is God. Therefore, He had to have existed prior to coming to Earth. At the beginning of the Gospel of John, we read this: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning” (John 1:1). When John spoke of “the Word,” he was speaking of Jesus, the eternal Son of God who existed with God the Father before time began. Then John made this astounding statement: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (verse 14).
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

The Hypostatic Union
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus is both human and divine. “The Word became flesh” means that God became human. In doing so, He became… The perfect man—Jesus always said and did the right thing.
This may be why evil men reacted so violently to His life, His ministry, and His message. They were enemies of God and killed the man whose perfection was a constant reminder of their unwillingness to repent of their sins.
The perfect teacher—Jesus’ words are forever true and correct. In His teachings you are made aware of what is important to God’s heart.
The perfect example—Jesus,
who “came from the Father, [was] full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). He is a model of how you are to live. He took on “the very nature of a servant” (Philippians 2:8). How does God want you to live? Look to Jesus!
Jesus’ death fully satisfied the Father’s requirement that sin be punished.
Because Jesus was perfect, He could die as the perfect sacrifice for all sin. God is holy and cannot accept sin in
Jesus is the Savior of the world
The name “Jesus” means “the Lord saves.” Jesus came to Earth to save us from our sins. There is nothing we can do to save ourselves—only Jesus can rescue us from the power and penalty of sin.
