God is the Creator of Everything
In the very two verses of the Bible, God tells us a lot about who He is.
He is the creator of the heavens and the earth.
He tells us why.
Its because the earth was without form, it was void.
It had no purpose.
Darkness was over the face of the deep.
Darkness is the absence of light.
So, whether you believe in God or you don’t the world works the way He wants it to.
Even if you don’t believe in gravity, you still are subject to its rules whether you like it or not.
Human Beings Were Created by God
So Jesus came so that if we believe in him we could have everlasting life.
That was his purpose.
Our original purpose was for us to be image bearers.
God created man in His own image.
The tree messed all that up.
So Jesus comes in to show us what it is to be that image.
He is literally the image of the God that we cannot see, but we still believe.
A couple of definitions to help you out.
The definition of religion is “the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.”
In John 3:16, the Greek word for believe is pisteuo (peestevo) and it “Describes the act of believing or trusting something on the basis of its truthfulness and reliability.”
So religion is a noun and believe is a verb.
Its something you do.
Its not just an idea or a fact, you have to live it out if you say that you believe.
So if we want to be the men, husbands, and fathers that God has called us to be.
We have to look to the one who is the true image bearer.
We have to obey and abide in His word.
Then, we will truly be able to say that we believe.
Interesting fact the same word for belief in John is the same word in
So a question rose in my mind.
Why do the demons not have everlasting life?
The Bible says that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life, so why doesn’t that include demons?
The difference is our belief gives us hope, their belief reminds them that they’re doomed.
Our belief reminds us that we are loved and we have a choice.
The demons have already made theirs.
Jesus died on the cross for everyone!
But you have to choose Him.
Offer your bodies: Give it up!
It doesn’t belong to you anyway!
Living Sacrifice: In OT times, they would sacrifice animals for the atonement of sin.
We had Jesus!
Be a living sacrifice.
Give yourself to Him! Live for Him!
Worship: When Paul says this is your true and proper worship, what he is really saying is this is the least you could do.
Its the very least you could do and its pleasing to Him!
