Purpose or goals of the sabbatical.
Personal rest
When the Lord is your shepherd you have nothing lacking.
For a Christian, rest is a reality of our identity in Christ. Taking a sabbatical is not an attempt to find a hidden secret. Its not an attempt to discover the missing link of the gospel. Rather, it is an extension of the rhythm of rest. (Daily diverging, Weekly withdrawing, quarterly quarantining, annually refocusing , and in that same rhythm… taking a sabbatical is an extended time to rest and renew.
Illustration of house on firm foundation but paint is fading. Storms have weathered my house and its time for a resh coat of paint.
“he causes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters” This is the Lord making happen what I may not do on my own.”
My plans verses God directing my steps. Have some things scheduled like… But the goal in all this is to rest in God’s presence and enjoy His soul restoration.
Body building
So many folks stepping up to serve. For example… Servant schedule, teaching, singing, praying…
Point: The body of Christ will be built up and well cared for.
Practical: Any needs or communication of any kind should be directed to Julie or Kim and they will administrate those details accordingly.
Glory of God
“for His names sake”
God does this for each of His sheep because it is His glory to do so.
if your in need of true rest, I invite you to truly trust in Christ alone for the deep delight of your soul. Perhaps your already a sheep in God’s pasture, but the trials and issues of life have really weighed you down. Be encouraged that God is Your Shepherd and in Him you have nothing lacking. Start today by resting in His presence and enjoying the provisions He has for you in Christ Jesus.
Closing: Time of prayer with anyone praying that would have a mind to.
