Confession
Jacob coming back into the land knew that he had to deal with his angry brother (after just having dealt with an angry father-in-law).
His first step is to seek peace and grace, meet with troubling news.
He then confesses his need of God’s help and appeals to His promise.
Restitution
prov 18:19 “19 A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city, and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.”
He sent gifts, seeking to appease Esau’s wrath.
That night the Lord wrestled with Jacob and changed his identity.
Blessing is found in confession.
Restoration
Jacob approached his brother with humility.
He sought favor.
Consecration
Jacob recognized the Lord’s hand in bringing him back into the land.
