how many of you have ever gotten at blessed by at least one thing you've heard here at sozo. do you think that someone that you know that doesn't come to sozo would be blessed. so tonight i want you to kinda feel the vibe and if you feel like something you vibe with is about to be said thene get you phone out turn down your volume so wee don't get a bunch of playback noise record what you relate to then as quick as you can tag sozo youth post it and get back to note taking.

so tonight we had a series on the holy spirit recently and i got a candy bar for anyone that can tell me what it was called. holy ghosted, perfect. now i got 5 bucks for any youth that can read me one of their takeaways from their notes.

that was an amazing series that blessed my socks off no really i had to buy new socks. i don’t know if that series ever talked about weird the Holy Spirit is at times.

wait did he just call the Holy Spirit weird? yes i did let me explain. my wife and i were at a flea market recently and we heard this exchange between these girls and one of em said well i heard that she was like the first day of scorpio and he was the last day of scorpio so i don't know if they are going to work out. that sounds super weird to me because im an outsider to astrology. im not saying go study astrology cause i can guarantee you the month you were born should affect how you act and interact anymore than thee color of you skin.

what i am saying is the holy spirit is going to look weird to an outsider so tonight i invite from the outsider sideline perspective to something deeper ask anyone that's had an encounter and they will agree with you that thee holy spirit is in fact weird

its weird how some random guy from a different state that id never met he didn't know my name and yet he prayed the exact prayer i needed. its weird that i didn't even want to go to sozo summer camp but someone made me go and now i can’t wait for Wednesday night. I agree its weird how and agnostic punk teenager was turned into the man you see before yourself proclaiming thee goodness of the same God he used to mock, COME ON RIGHT NOW SOZO IF YOU HAD AN ENCOUNTER STAND UP AND GIVE THE LORD SOME PRAISE A SHOUT A CLAP ANYTHING TO LET THOSE IN THE ROOM KNOW THAT JESUS IS REAL AND HE IS HERE IN THIS ROOM.

Why the Holy Spirit?

Ecclesiastes 3:11 NKJV

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 God has put eternity on mans heart.

God has put an internal longing for something eternal on our hearts. When we go to sources that are not eternal we are putting a band aid on a bullet wound. You see the thing is our distractions are becoming more numerous then ever. Anyone in there mid 20’s can attest to this that if we wanted to talk to our friends and wee didn't have our own cell phone which many of us didn't have having a cell phone at a younger age has become way more normal. we would have to wait till wee get home hope our parents weren't on the family computer so we can go on Myspace and update our playlist and reply to the rich friend who didn't have dial up internet. or we’d have to wait a whole week for the new episode of avatar thee last air bender to come out. and believe me when i say those season finales hit different.

compared to what kind of distractions had thee generation before me my generation had it pretty easy now its even gotten easier for you guys you can watch the entire season of strangers things in one night and then tweet about it, put it on snap chat, post on the Instagram story, make a tiktok using whatever sound bite goes viral. and then two weeks go by and now its on to the next thing.

the reason regular time spent with the holy spirit is vital is because that is one of the few ways we can satisfy the eternity that has been placed on the hearts of man.

How and What?

Now that we have learned on the importance of thee holy spirit lets talk on the how and why. how we can what happens when we do it.

Acts 2 1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.

Prayer and Growth

one accord meaning they all had the same goal to listen and receive the promises that Jesus. i look around the room and i see the same thing people that want to get know Jesus and want others to experience .

Multitude came together the surrounding people took notice and had to come see what was going on. so don't be surprised when you start seeing people you don't know showing up.

Attention and Freedom

Exodus 3:1–8 (NKJV)

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”

And he said, “Here I am.”

And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey

moses has given his attention to the angel of the lord and when God sees this he now has a conversation with God which is actually just prayer.

and Moses goes to Egypt and through God frees the Israelite from Egyptian captivity.

did you know when God gets you through something He his going to send you back so you can help free people from what you went through!

Humbling and Healing

Acts 9:1–9 NKJV

Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

I needed to include this story for anyone in the room that might not consider themselves a Christian. no judgment here cause i was the same way.

for anyone who doesn't know my testimonial i was going through life that i had everything figured out. had my permit, a job, college then i was diagnosed with cancer and much like Saul i was knocked down. hard i might add. i was invited here and now you can see the results

Praise and Power

2 Samuel 6:14 NKJV

Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.

verse 14 points out David was wearing an ephod which was a vest kinda thing worn by people with divine power so some point this came off and Davids wife Michal comes out and mocking says oh how great was the king of Isreal today that you uncovered yourself. and Davids response is perfect.

2 Samuel 6:21–22 (NKJV)

So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.”

David who was referred to once as a man after God’s own heeart knows the importance of praise. so we going to into a time of prayer and praise. and i want no just for neext 5 minutees not care how you look just like moses when wee turn our attention to God we will encounter a freedom from our own and others opinions that only thee Holy Spirit can bring.
