Well, we are ready. We've got our start screen. And we're ready to begin. We're going to open up in a word of prayer and then we will dive in. Okay, thank you, Father, for this new day that you've given us. We so magnify by your glorious name is specially is becoming together as the body of Christ. I was up and cut out in the world and we get to dive into your glorious word, understand the amazing salvation. You've given us. So often we take these things for granted. We just yes, we're saved and someday, we'll be in heaven. And but as we go into these things and we see them detail by detail. We are just amazed and overwhelmed the Glorious salvation. Why would you save us? Father? We don't know that. But this is in your hands. And so we yield to your will for our lives guide, us. Oh, holy spirit this morning this week. Listen to this important scripture in Jesus name. Amen. And then the main theme, of course, there's no other book and end in the Bible that reveals the righteousness of God as gloriously as the book Rump. The sectional theme, we are at the dissection versus a chapters 5 through 8 where we talked about the hope as a result of the righteousness by faith. Hope that we have. In Christ, we are Hallelujah. Moving in our Matt. You noticed we added another section. So Weird Al moved into the section that we call something that's going to take us from 6:1 through the end of chapter 8. Damn. Course, this non-controversial ones next to the sovereignty of God has 9 through 11. So we are we will be in chapters 6 through 8 for the next 2 weeks in chapter 5, we come up against this, this understanding of Romans 5:12 open the idea of Adamson and then it was passed down to the human race. Adamson was passed to us to remember, there were two Newman was that what was the first one? Well, that was the view that the policemen and and let me play gym, which is called. Our meeting is about to correct. You is none. Other than that, Adam was appointed in. This is kind of an atom was appointed representative of a whole race. So when Adam fell to send was what we call the word. What's the word in the whole human race was put to their account along with that drawer Seminole headship, which we call it happened. When Adam gave birth or Adam begat children, that sinful nature was, what was passed down. Through the mail like a light processor that device produces life. So we got the federal headship legal legally was imputed to the whole human race and then Seminole to hit ship in which the sinful nature. Cast down and we've inherited sinful nature from our parents. Okay, very good. You guys did well with that. We're going into chapter 6 and this is an amazing chapter quiz. Every I say that about every chapter by chapter going to look at this theme, the Triumph of Grace over the power of sin. That when we talked about salvation scripture, talks about salvation in three different stages. Really are. There is no justification. We talked about that. The thing declare righteous in justification. We are saved from the Penalty of sin. Therefore, being justified by faith. We have what he's with God, right? So justification. That's the first thing that happened in our past. Then we have what's called Zach vacation. That's where we are going here. In chapter 6, sanctification is that we are safe from the power ups are in the past. We were sent safe from the penalty of sin and sanctification while we're here. And this is in the present. We are being saved from the power of sin and we can actually say we are being saved, okay. And then one final stage of Salvation is answered glorification, right? And that is what that be a glorious day. I stand in the presence of God, free from sin there, beast in nowhere. Well, that's the excuse vacations. Safe from the penalty of sin. Sanctification. We're being saved from the power season. And then glorification is that we will be safe from that very presence of sick. So with that in mind, let's try to read through. This passage is quite a long passage, unless that's read through it together. Romans chapter 6 verse 1 says, what shall we say that? Are we to continue in sin by no means. How can we, who died to send still live in it? Do not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ, Jesus or baptized into his death. You were buried there for with him by baptism into death and order that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father. We too might walk in newness of life. Where is if we have been United with him in the death, like head is we shall certainly be United with him in the resurrection like his, we know that our old self was crucified with him and order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now, if we had died with Christ, we believe that we also live with him. We know that price being raised from the dead will never die again. Death, no longer has dominion over him for the death. He died. He died to stand once were all, but the life you live. He lives to God. So you also must consider yourself. Justin and Ally to God. And Christ Jesus. That not stay in there for rain in your body. Didn't ache your day. It's passions. Do not present your members. Just seeing as instruments for unrighteousness, represent yourself to God, as those who have been brought from the death have been brought from Death to life, and your members to God, as instruments of righteousness. Person will have no dominion over you since you are not under law, but under grace, Hooper this before, right? Are we to stand? Because we are not under law, but under grace, by no means, do you? Not know that if you present yourself to anyone, as obedient slaves slaves are the one who do you obey either a sin, which leads to death or up obedient, which leaves to righteousness, but thanks be to God that you were once slaves. Wilson have been obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to what you were committed and have been set free from sin happy. Waves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms because of your natural limitations, or just as you want, presented your members as slaves to impurity, and to lawlessness, leading to more lawlessness. So now present your members as slaves, to righteousness, leading to what same to vacation. But when you were slaves of sin, you are free in regard to righteousness. But what group were you getting? At the time? When the things which you are now ashamed, for the end of these things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leaves just sanctification and it's and eternal life. We all know this last verse, right, for the wages of sin is death. But the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

We just got done talking about the superiority of Grace. We're going to look at this in regards to living our lives in the flesh, eating a turtle, a secure. We have been declared righteous. We have so much to look forward to. But what about right now? Here we are in the flash to do. Not go to a mountain and wait for the Lord's return. We are to be actively involved in doing something. Is there some implication to the Salvation? Where does this the something that that we can go on our merry way? Continue on our Deeds that we're doing. But we now have fire Insurance. We've got something for eternity. We're good. But their implications to that salvation, right? Vacations is a process called sanctification. So, Restart the houses. Shall we send the next topic? He brings it out in a question. Verse 1 says, what shall we say? Then? Are we to continue in sin that Grace May abound? And what he's doing, he's looking back versus 2021 from chapter 5 verses 20 and 21 from chapter 5. Reveal the superiority.

Over our sin and Paul wants us to know, however, that though, this is true. That great neck is magnified and said no words. Arson was so to Bast. So immense there was none righteous. No, not one. But the grace of God was Superior to that is what happened was the grace of God was magnified in comparison to RCN to the Army was? All right. Is magnified because he is the god of Grace when we stand but I just continue instead.

Well, Paul was the first understanding. This is the whole point of this chapter. It is observed. It is absurd to continue in sin in order to magnify Grace.

He uses an illustration. He illustrates this by talking about baptism. And how it relates to in. This is an important term death. He gets us to understand this concept of sanctification by showing us this illustration of baptism and what it means and how it relates to death. All right, that's what he's, that's where he's going. Joey said that Grace May abound though. We have died to send. Secondly, in baptism we were buried into Christ.

What is it?

People that what you've done?

I think it's a queen.

Don't always understand its true significance. This is absolutely Paramount and Paul's argument here of why we don't continue in sin. That Grace may have been with her since I'm out where a new person or we have risen from that really, there's two, there's two meanings to basic means of that distance is the literal. Meaning the word bat T-Zone.

And as a result of that, there's a figurative meaning, it means to identify with that's why we believe that the scripture teaches immersion, right? We need to go into the cupboard with the water. You were completely identified yourself with the water. You're all wet. Right? So that's an important understanding. I don't need a literal but they the figurative meaning of identification.

Is to basically b a baptism is a baptism into Christ. So what happened who baptized us into Christ? Holy Spirit has So, what happens at Salvation that we are at, we were at regeneration faith. We were declared into Christ. We are at completely identified ourselves of our symbol of identification. We would call a Sacrament or ordinance. We would call that. And what happens then in the baptism the physical Baptist, new ordinance of baptism is that we are saying by this identification by this symbol of being buried with Christ and be raised to newness of life. This is what has happened to us. We are declaring to the people who are watching that we have been baptized into Christ by the Holy Spirit. And this is the symbol of that. This is some decoration. We are making before the people who are watching. All right, let's keep going in this area, but I want to move on with Paul's flaw of argument here. Okay. So baptism is this illustration that he's using to help us understand why it's absurd to continue in sin that Grace may have been, right.

One isn't saved through baptism Church of Christ. Course, there are other denominations to or so-called facts of Christianity Church of Christ through baptism that you were saying the physical act of Baptist that we would believe that through baptism. We are saved but it's not the physical. At the back of it is what the spirit does. When he baptized into Christ. They would believe and it's the symbol.

The following with God has yet to do? We are we are what we are following when we are submitting Our God has commanded us to do believe and be baptized. Right? And I believe that that indeed baptize is an ordinance. And so we are following and really, we were saying this is what has happened to me, everybody. I want you to know that I am a devoted follower of Jesus Christ Methodist. I believe due to a sign of the Covenant. Now, if I had time and in my time, I did a whole class on this on a Saturday morning on on, baptism. There's a baptism in and I don't want to Recapitulate, that whole thing, you know, it and put it out there, but I want to continue on but suffice to say that this isn't the ordinance of baptism. We Believe does not save a person. It is the sign in the symbol that the person has been saved, but as Paul goes on to say, there's more to it than that. Because the swimming say that we are buried with Christ. What are we doing? We are showing that we have what time with him? That's the point as we continue on to what's going on. Because we should walk in newness of Life. Haven't been United together in the likeness of his death. Crucified with him, no longer slave to sin but freed from the Nets versus for a last part 42 through versus a 7. Okay. So what this tells us is that this identification. We've already said that figuratively baptism. Is a form of identification. So we are doing what we are identifying with Jesus Christ. So this form of identification with Christ brings a new relationship to stand near the point. A new relationship to send 1 verse 6. He says this,

Verse 6. We know that our old self. I think the King James says the old man, right? And I'm glad this doesn't say that because he thinks about your husband to talk to you. We know that the old self was crucified with him and order that the body of sin, might be what brought to nothing. We getting this weird talking about that. This idea of this present existence. The sanctification that were in, it is to learn to grow in the fact that the pin has no longer any power over us. Might be brought to nothing ever is to render it idle. Inactive inoperative. There's a new relationship to send so we can't just say, alright, I repeated a prayer had my fire insurance policy and I'm just going to go out and live like before. But now if my eternity is taken care of, like you're preparing for your funeral or something. You have been crucified with him. You have a new relationship to sin. That sin is been rendered inoperative. It is no longer your Masters. We will talk about in a minute, LOL. It's our old self being crucified with Christ brought about the possibility and certainty. The sin is no longer what?

Woman has, there's some important things that talk between this chapter and next chapter, when Elsa he was going to do about that. And we realize that this is not an easy thing for us, right? This is what a battle, but we have been crucified with Christ before where we seen it, as trendy priest on it, right? Galatians 2, 20 seconds. I have been crucified with Christ.

It is no longer. I who live but Christ who lives in me and the life. I now live in the flesh. I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me to see this amazing relationship of being in Christ. It is, we have died with him and we live with him. Let's go on because there's I want us to understand something. Verses 8 through 14. Nurses concept. Yes. We're dead too soon. But there's another aspect of that, right? And what is that? You were lied to God, that supposed to walk around like a bunch of dead people hour away. So place in my room, but, you know, there's a lot of being alive. I Want More Alive than we ever were before on the Earth, right? Here is how that plays out verses 8 through 10 having died with Christ. We may live with him over whom death has no Dominion. Now, this is really important. Death has no Dominion. What do we mean by that? We're all going to die. Physically. We're talking about something else. Give me something real.

Eternal death.

Yeah, really? It's not enough to realize ourselves dead to send but the sole purpose of this death. According to what Paul says here is that we might, what did to God.

This is not just in heaven. Talking about living to God. Here. We're right here, right here, in our reality is using stand in death synonymously, right? Get these death seeing is no longer our Lord, our master. And it's important that we understand. Sense8 here. Now if we have died with Christ, be with him, we know that Christ being raised from the dead will know will never die again. Death, no longer has dominion over to him. It's really important in once for all. Write Christ. Never had to repeat his debt because in his debt, our sin died with him. So, it's interesting. This idea of he died. He died. That's the The Burbs subject in the verb to sin. Once for all this is an adverbial phrase, the 9 repetitions once for all dying, right? Price died. Once for all.

He lives to God. He seeks to promote his glory through Christ seeks to promote the glory of God. So there's this concept coming up a bouquet. How do we deal with this so far as Christ died at once, for all we have to look at ourselves is that we have died with Christ, once, for all and the implications of that.

Death is no longer our master. We're not slaves anymore to see in like we were before. I'm not going to say scared to death, but death doesn't seem like anything to us after I'm safe. Now. I feel like okay I'm going to die. But if I die, it's going to be good till I die. I'm going to do best I can now that's that's what that's a good point because we don't want to talk about that right now. In Hebrew date or sell to do. Whatever is fun, not have us, think about that. Now as Believers, we have a new concept of death We are we are being ushered into the very presence of God. We're saying we should not let sin rain in our bodies. Okay, so there's the point. We're alive to God in any part of being alive to God in in versus verse 11. He says that till you also. Must consider yourself dead person and I live to God in Christ Jesus. So you must do what? So this being true. How shall we then live? This is great to have all this stuff in our minds. It's all great. Understanding is really what Paul's going to address here. Is there. So we must as Christ died to send once so, shall we? And here's the word, we must consider. Look at this word in verse 11. So also, we must consider ourselves yourselves dead to sin.

It's been another form rectum. Impune.

We must consider something to be true, listen, brothers and sisters. It's as if we've been ushered into the Royal presence of God with all its benefits. If many of us choose to stand outside and look at it and see what it be nice. If we could have all that really what Paul is saying we could consider ourselves to send how do I consider myself dead to send practically do that? And a lie to God is it the present tense at the idea of that? We got to continue to do this? Why? Because We have to get. Will fall. So the whole reality of this is the understanding consideration that we have been granted presents into the presence of God. We have that sin no longer our master so work. We're outside. We're not outside of God's kingdom, looking in anymore. Where are we inside? God's Kingdom? Now, what Paul wants us to do is stop looking outside. Because that kingdom is not yours anymore. That Kingdom has no longer any Mastery over you. It is not your king sin. Satan evil is no longer your king.

Here's the key to living a Sanctified life is considering Yourself Dead to sin and therefore living that way. Like you think if I consider myself dead to sin and a lot to God, what does that change? How, how does that work? The other way? Focuses on God, then you decide to do something else. What do you think the relationship we have to understand is that we are to obey Tobago. We are to our lifestyle should change your change radically because we are in the kingdom of God. Write the we are not too loud. And that's the second part of that verse and burst and goat going into verse 12. That's not Sid. Therefore. It is rain in your mortal bodies that you may obey its options because it's true. We're not going to allow us into rain because it is this unregenerate questioned. By the way, what scripture tells us that we have this flesh. There's a lot of questions about what is The Flash that we won't? We have his flesh. What is this? Flash?

Right. That was the old firmly. Believe we look at scripture debt with the old nature with Christ with a given a new nature spiritual nature. It will be a lot, but we have this, this body of Flesh that we carry around with us. Oops. What we would call the unregenerate Flesh and it is with us. It's like the hardest enemy. We have, right? Why can't get away from it and it is stimulated by what evil Satan in the world. All these things around it's being stimulated. And so, one of the things that we do is that we put to death, the Deeds of The Flash. It's like we make the flesh. Our servant the mortification of Cindy rate book. Okay. Get the book, The mortification of spin. It is directly, has to do with this concept of dying to the flesh, living to God to say when you see God, help you with that thin that you, you cannot get over. You just keep. Family accounts on your own hour.

Absolutely.

Careful. See all that's going on in the world of wars and letting you know that they can have what you have. Yeah, it is interesting in this In this passage. The grammar seems to indicate that the more you count Yourself Dead to sin and consider that the less symbol rain in your mortal bodies. Constantly, recognising, the transfer of ownership. Send death and evil to God to Christ. Okay, I'll end up going to try to move on you, rather percent your bodies as instruments. Here. It is. People sides of things, right since your bodies as instruments of righteousness. I have a slight error. All right, so that just simply means that I will get out of this and move back in again while I am stalling. I will. When we, when we talked about this, though, that's not understand that. See if this is going to put me back. Okay, I lied to God. Okay. Good, go back. Where I was. So let's understand that when we, when we talked about this. We are not to let sin bring it on Mortal bodies that we also, we also have some practical sides of this and that is not allowing our bodies to be yielded to righteousness, right? How do we, how do we do that?

Sorry everybody. This is now yesterday didn't have a problem at all.

Okay, so, all right, so I'm going to try to just continue on. I'm going to move my slide from here. That's what you can do when you when you run out of things to do. Okay, so we are now but he says But rather present your bodies as instruments of righteousness, from for we are under grace.

What does it look like again?

Right.

We're not supposed to just dust it every week. Take it and we're supposed to read it and we're supposed to obey it. And what we do that, what are we doing? For? Yielding, our bodies, the instruments of righteousness. That's exactly why God is going to be hasn't given us. We have we haven't been not giving any information to know what to do. We got all the information that we need to know what to do. We are healed, our bodies as instruments of righteous. So we become a scripture says slaves. To whom we obey either just in and verses 15 and 16. Orbit, so we when we send, what are we doing? Who who we eating to the flesh, right? Okay, flash. Yeah. I know that. You no longer have rain over me, but I'm going to give you this time. All right, so bring over me a little bit. But we do that. Don't we boys supposed to be yielding ourselves to as instruments of righteous to remember, this passage and Matthew 6:24. Remember? It's a beautiful patch. No one can serve two masters. For either, he will hate the one and love the other or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. If you cannot serve God and money. All right. I'm moving quickly here, but Paul. Paul really goes over these things and over them and over until a lot of times is repetitious, but it's for a good reason. To remember those who were slaves of send become slaves of righteous. That's what we were just saying, that's why we have the word of God. That's why it needs to be preached. That's why it needs to be declared that. Quiet needs to be listened to. That's why we need to read it and meditate on it. Why? Because it is only through the word of God that we can learn to yield ourselves as instruments of righteousness. So what is the motivation for serving God, when she get out of this whole thing while we are now serving righteousness, produces holiness.

It is it is the word sanctification. And sanctification has, as a troop, the word Holiness Hagee has had the awesomest is in it in the in the nail as a noun verb form is hockey also means to be holy and really, it means to be what set apart unto God. So the more we obey his right? Is this the more we are, what set apart? Unto God serving serving righteousness produces. That's the first thing produces holiness. Are on the counter. That what is that produce? Even as Christians bodies with the time to send? When we decide we're going to live, like we want to live and get to sing. It's raining over our bodies before the living dead people. He said this, like we Are Spiritual zombies. It's really would have said you saw, you want to send you an e-mail to send. You're a living dead person, really what he s. Good thing, the truth of Holiness, and then the end eternal life. So.

That we get from this, the end of the thing about this. We are we are having the opportunity to live under God live under God and what are we doing? We are displaying the presence of God In This World In His people do.

Two things. What's what's the first thing? It brings glory to God about in the darkness. The light shines, the brightest right with Darkness all around the fruit of his Holiness was that you shine like lights and what effect does that have on the world? Bumblebee, what do that? But as we are doing this, we're working our way into eternity. We're getting closer and closer to that turnstile, that separates time. The Maternity in our process of sanctification. We're bringing glory to God becoming more and more whole late, and they were working our way into eternal life. Would not be having Turtle Life as a as a, as a reward. For not saying that, but we are doing as a result of what God has done to us in us as a proof of righteousness.

We are displaying the glory of God. People are coming to Salvation. And then we are being ushered all into eternity. It's just an amazing thought. Okay, and then he gives us this final.

Gift of God is eternal life. God gives the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus because Saint is no longer our Master. Its payment death is no longer our Master think about that. Death is the payment that is due for sin. Wife is undeserved, get that was given to God. So when we are baptized into Christ, we are we died with price our sin. I trust is no longer our Master. We are to live on to God and how do we live under God unto God?

The understanding of that.

Amazing pasta.

Bartlett, is there any questions? I'm great at the quarter after mark. Yes.

Yeah.

Amen.

the differences in you, pray that God, you know, I t-shirts worth his kind of threw you and graciousness, and gentleness, and all that. The opposite of, yes.

The he will, you know, show that to others and bring them to himself? Amen.

Let's pray. Father. I thank you so much for the Glorious past, which I pray that we would live out our lives. As those have been set apart on the life. We would have been your word, your are members as instruments of righteousness that we might bring you glory, that we might bring people into your kingdom. And then when you are ready for us, father, we are ushered into your kingdom. Eternally. We thank you for these glorious, truth. Help us as we go to the next service, and we will be in the heart and mind of worship and pray in Jesus name. Amen. Good week, brothers and sisters. See you next week.
