Communion:
40 days of prayer and fasting for a break thru
The goal of the 40 day fast: Grow closer to God and ask Him for a major break through in your life, for your family, our church, and Riverside.
Set up. - How God led me to this.
Fasting: giving up something and replacing it with seeking after God.
You can give up:
Specific food: In this type of fast you omit a specific item(s) from your meal plans. For example, you may choose to eliminate all red meat, processed or fast food, or sweets. (Joan Hannibal)
Daniel: This is a partial fast referenced in the bible in the book of Daniel. It includes eating only soups, salads, vegetables, fruits, juice, water, and whole grains while refraining from meat, sweets and treats.
Juice: A juice fast is simply consuming vegetable and fruit juices and water instead of solid food.
Specific activities: In this type of fast you omit a specific item(s) activities. For example social media. (Youth Ministry fast before camp. (Leaders and youth)
Be specific on what breakthrough you are seeking God for. List it out.
Public ones and private ones.
Breakthroughs for yourself, your family and friends, our church, and our city.
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
God sees you heart.
To break in to our breakthrough we must first start to seek God and desire a deep rich relationship with the LORD.
We want a breakthrough in our lives but we should seek a deeper relationship with God first and foremost.
1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
SEEK
4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
does not SEEK
10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
SEEK you
4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
does not SEEK
2 The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
any one SEEK
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
SEEK - Lack nothing
Lack no good thing: What would be a good thing?
Job promotion: Been passed up or can’t land the job you long for?
16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!”
