Verse 1

“Listen” - like right after you got in trouble

Verse 2

Psalm 139:13–14 ESV

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Not, “BAM! Sayonara!”

Not like manufacturing a car and sending it out. Hope the engine doesn’t blow out.

He is an intimate, personal God. Always present

Do you know it? Do you believe it?

It is an ever present source of help

Verse 3

The promise to a repentant, humble Israel. God won’t just give them His Spirit- He will pour out His Spirit on them

“This is a freedom in the giving of the Spirit. This is a flow in the giving of the Spirit. This is abundance in the giving of the Spirit. God wants to pour His Spirit upon His people! If you experience a few drops, God wants to pour. If you are bone dry, God wants to pour. If you know the pour, God wants to keep pouring! We must learn to stop saying “when” as God pours!

Verse 4

Growth. Beautiful growth.

Who ever just feels stuck? Stuck in the same ruts?

It doesn’t have to stay this way.

parents are dead - Jesus is alive

left alone - draws us to God’s presence

lost their provider - Spirit provides all things

left w/o instruction - teaches all things

no defender - Spirit protects us

Let’s talk about the Sprit some more

sit down n’ talk about God: God the Father? God the Son? God the Holy Spirit?

He illuminates. He makes believing the gospel possible. He is the reason you believe in Jesus.

If you believe in Jesus, the Spirit dwells in you

We can’t even understand the Bible until we have the Spirit.

Mercy - poured out mercy so we can overflow with mercy

Grace - poured out grace so we can overflow with grace

Forgiveness - poured out forgiveness so we can overflow with forgiveness

Kindness - poured out kindness so we can overflow with kindness

It’s cool to be kind

Compassion - poured out compassion so we can overflow with compassion

Joy - poured out Joy so we can overflow with Joy

There isn’t any room for anything else! I don’t need it!

I don’t need the drinking! I don’t need the partying! I don’t need the drama and rumors! I don’t need sex outside of marriage!

This is appealing. It is attractive. It is magnetizing. When lives are lived poured out, overflowing… it is irresistible

Jesus poured out His blood on the cross. Poured his life out.

The Spirit was poured out on us.

Pour out your life.
