Review:
Who exactly is Satan?
Adversary, Chief of Devils
Who strived to be as God, was cast down from heaven, and is now permitted, with the rest of his evil forces in high places, to walk up and down, seeking whom he may devour.
Satan is an enemy of God and goodness; and the hater of ALL TRUTH!
Satan is full of malice, envy, and revenge.
Satan is a being of great power!
Examples: Able to act on the imagination of Christ, as to represent Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glories of them.
Satan also carried the Christ body through the air up to a pinnacle of the temple.
*Evangelist George Whitefield from the early 1700’s said this, “So great is his(satan’s) might, that, I dought not, was God to let him use his full strength, but he could turn the earth upside down, or pull the sun from its orbit.
Whitefield continues his thought and it’s very good!
He says Satan is most remarkable for is, his subtlety: for not having power given him from above, TO TAKE US BY FORCE, HE IS OBLIGED TO WAIT FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO BETRAY US BY GUILE! ( sly or cunning intelligence.)
SATAN’S ATTACKS:
1. AT CONVERSION:
Satan’s first attack on one after coming to faith in Christ is to drive that person to despair as quickly as he can.
Satan will try his best to make that sinner doubt the Mercy that was given to them through our Redeemer Jesus Christ.
Just as Satan first tempted Christ by asking, “IF THOU BE THE SON OF GOD” do this!
Satan will bring to mind ALL OF YOUR PAST SINS and accuse you over and over again, telling you that there is no way you have been forgiven.
We must answer Satan just as Christ did! Tell Satan “IT IS WRITTEN!”
This is Faith!! Believing on/in the written word of ALMIGHTY GOD!
Tell Satan that you know your redeemer lives, ever to make intercession for you, that Christ took upon himself all of my transgressions.
And I have absolutely no reason to be DESPAIRED.
2. AS WE GROW IN OUR FAITH:
Satan’s second attack may be this: to tempt them to presume, or think more highly of themselves than they should.
I think most of us, if being honest, have found ourselves here.
After experiencing the new life in Christ and the powers of the Spirit filled life, Satan eases in and begins to puff us up and we become conceited of OUR OWN ATTAINMENTS as if we are something special......give out the holier than thou mentality.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling
3. WHEN WE FEEL WOUNDED, HURT, DEAD AND BARREN IN PRAYER
Satan’s third attack may be: Uneasiness!
During our time here on this earth and our journey in the FAITH progresses through time, we will experience seasons where God has allowed horrible deadness, pain, and suffering into our lives.
During these times Satan is quick to enter in and bring impatience and great discomfort to our soul.
We become UNEASY WITH OUR SITUATION.
God’s word tells us to NOT BE AFRAID!
Christ himself went through the same: the bitter agony in the garden, when His soul was exceeding sorrowful even unto death.
When the sense of the Divinity was drawn from him, and Satan was permitted to set all his terrors before Him.
1 Peter 4:13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation
God allows these times for our good, to see Him work in our life, to mature us.
To grow our faith to the point of a martyr’s faith, just like the apostle’s.
4. TROUBLE YOU WITH BLASPHEMOUS, PROFANE, UNBELIEVING THOUGHTS THAT BRING TORMENT INTO YOUR LIFE
Why do I have these Evil Thoughts?
I can’t believe that crossed my mind?
Why did I do that?
Have you ever had these questions?
I bet you have, I know I have experienced it (many times)
**Here is a fact that we need to understand!
This will give you comfort and peace.....
DO NOT THINK THAT GOD IS ANGRY WITH YOU FOR THESE DISTRACTING THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS, EVEN AS EVIL AS THEY ARE!!
GOD KNOWS IT IS NOT YOU, BUT SATAN WORKING IN YOU, AND SATAN WILL BE ULTIMATELY PUNISHED FOR THIS!
God allows this once again and will work in our life for our good.
Don’t allow Satan to gain a victory in this, yield to God and admit your sin and move forward with Him.
God will meet you with more Love, Mercy and Forgiveness.
SUCH AMAZING GRACE!!
