Abide: Two Responses to Jesus

The Disciple’s Response

The disciple’s response is to love as Jesus loved.

Jesus showed his love by laying down his life for us.

Jesus showed his love by making God and His will known to us.

Jesus showed his love by calling us to be his friends.

Real disciple’s respond through obedience to his commands, producing fruit, and praying in Jesus’ name.

The world’s response is to hate Jesus and his followers.

Jesus was hated because the world does not know who God is.

Jesus was hated because his teachings and works exposed their guilt and God’s judgement.

Jesus was hated to fulfill the law.

Real disciples must humbly accept that the world will hate us and stand firm in our calling to be in the world but not of the world.
