Last Thu 3/3 Hina-matsuri, girl’s day
Hina or Hina dolls are small cute dolls young girls played with in old days. It also is the name of one of my dogs. My sister had a set of more than dozen such dolls. Now a days girls do not play with them, but display them once a year. Before 3/3, any households with girls would take Hina dolls out and arrange them in certain ways to depict the loyal wedding.
The day to wish for the healthy growth and happiness of young girls
The prince is the Christ
The princess is the church = us!
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
John Piper says...
The union of man and woman in marriage is a mystery because it conceals, as in a parable, a truth about Christ and the church. The divine reality hidden in the metaphor of marriage is that God ordained a permanent union between His Son and the church. Human marriage is the earthly image of this divine plan. As God willed for Christ and the church to become one body (Gal. 3:28; 1 Cor. 12:13), so He willed for marriage to reflect this pattern—that the husband and wife become one flesh
Remember: Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
He is sanctifying us
Washing us with the word
He will present us to himself without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish
So as we praise and worship, keep the wedding image in our mind where the groom is Christ and the bride is us, the church. It is a bit of stretch for especially the guys. But that is part of the mystery! God can make all of us holy and clean!
