OPENER-Walmart

Where are my sibblings in the house tonight
Does anyone rember retro Walmart aisles man
well they looked something like this I love video games and this love has litteraly started from the age of like 4
Sister and I playing a game and my mom was telling us we were there she was going to leave but we did not care we just decided to keep playing
Get lost cry sobbing asking for our mom we go to the customer servicer and they help us out mom forgives us but tells us not to do that because of the dangers that can happen to us
a similar situation is happening in Jesus’ day we are going to look at a situation tonight and see what the Lord is trying to communicate to us tonight lets PRAY
RECAP OF JOHN 7
Jewish festival going on
People are divided on if they believe Jesus or not
Pharisess and Religious new for a fact that they didnt like the fact that Jesus was gaining popularity
THIS LEADS US INTO the passage that Jessica read tonight so lets crack into John 8:2-5
John 8:2–5 CSB
At dawn he went to the temple again, and all the people were coming to him. He sat down and began to teach them. Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, making her stand in the center. “Teacher,” they said to him, “this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery. In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”
We see the eleits are trying to put Jesus in a situation
The law they are refering to is found in Deuteronomy 22:22-24
Deuteronomy 22:22–24 (CSB)
“If a man is discovered having sexual relations with another man’s wife, both the man who had sex with the woman and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel. If there is a young woman who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the city and sleeps with her, take the two of them out to the gate of that city and stone them to death...You must purge the evil from you.
Jesus reveals all sin
No man only the woman is there
shows they dont care about the law just exposing this womans sins and they want Jesus to sin too
Want the girl to be judge differently than all of them
Pharisess and Chief preist are trying to just showcace this woman o trap Jesus
If He says stone her breaks Roman law and then they have what they need to put him in jail if He doesnt though it shouws that Jesus might actually condone sin and does not care about the law
No man only the woman is there
shows they dont care about the law just exposing this womans sins and they want Jesus to sin too
Want the girl to be judge differently than all of them which would be contrary to what Jesus says here
Matthew 7:1–3 (CSB)
Matthew 7:1–3 CSB
“Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged. For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use. Why do you look at the splinter in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the beam of wood in your own eye?
Jesus thinks about this as the pester and says this John 8:7
John 8:7 CSB
When they persisted in questioning him, he stood up and said to them, “The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.”
And Goes back to having his finger in the dirt
Keep pestering Jesus so Jesus being who He is and Cryptic starts putting His finger in the Dirt
One by one they leave and it is because Jesus is revealing their sin right before their eyes
Jesus reveals all sin
He is destroyinh their reality as they know it
Jesus sees what they are dirty sinners and reveals that to them Sin is the thing that separates us from the Lord. It’s the thing they were trying to make Jesus into. Sin can put blinders in our eyes this is why I love what Jesus says in Matthew 7:1-7 on the sermon on the mount. Sin can make us feel like we are Holyoke than thou but that is not true if we act like we are better and so the only person who can do this and judge is our Heavenly Father and let’s look at Jesus has done for the woman back in our story
After he reveals the sins of all the people and the hypocrasiu in their eyes it was just her and
Here is the thing though Jesus isnt only here to speak about our sins He is here to forgive them lool at what He says to her in verse 10 it says John 8:10-11
John 8:10–11 CSB
When Jesus stood up, he said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, Lord,” she answered. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”]
He says who is left to judge you
who no one but me and I forgive you You are free this is what
Forgiveness thst Jesus shows us we have to show others
STORY of BOTHAM JEAN (JOHN) and AMber Guyger
Bothatm 26, was in his own house minding his own buisness
Amber off duty cop tyhouth man was in her house but she was in the wrong house
She shot and killed him and that caused a flurry of issues
Trial her brother says that He forgives her and gives her a hug
Real forgivness requires sacrifce but it is worth it
But that leads us to the last thing Jesus forgives her but He gives her a command John 8:11
John 8:11 (CSB)
“Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”
God is calling us in this forgiveness to not fall into the same things again this restoration of our souls is not for us to go back to it I love how Paul puts it in Romans 6:1-2
Romans 6:1–2 CSB
What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
We are going to say we are free free not chained chained
Forgiveness is not a pass for us to continue in wrong things, but it is a chance to pursue the right ones
