I. Suffering is part of this life. (6:1-8; John 16:33; Acts 14:21-22)

  • White horse - Gospel conquest. (2)
  • Red horse - Bloody persecution. (3-4; Matt. 24:9)
  • Black horse - Economic hardship. (5-6; 13:16-18)
  • Pale horse - Death (Hades). (7-8)

II. Suffering helps cleanse us.

  • It calls us to examine ourselves.
  • It prompts us to seek God. (Rom. 8:28)

III. Suffering is not the final word. (6:9-17; Ch. 7)

  • God is with us. (7:3-10; Eph. 1:13-14; II Cor. 1:21-22; Rom. 8:16)
  • God is still on His throne. (7:10-12)
  • God will bring a new day without suffering. (7:13-17)

Our only hope: the blood of the Lamb. (7:14)

I will hang on, stay near God's throne, & near Jesus' cross.
