I don’t feel the Bible applies to our particular conflicts.” (Powlison) THE BIBLE IS FULL OF EMOTIONS • Scripture not only speaks about emotions, it also speaks to and through our emotions. The Bible itself is emotional literature, filled with emotional expression and designed not just to communicate with our rationality but also to stir us emotionally, thus affirming our emotionality. (Evangelical Dictionary of Theology) BIBLICAL UNDERSTANDING OF EMOTIONS • Emotions were given in order to energize behaviour and were intended by God to be a catalyst for action. We can either listen to ourselves and our constantly changing feelings about our circumstances, or we can talk to ourselves about the unchanging truth of who God is and what He’s accomplished for us at the cross.
