Jesus teaches against the abuses of Old Testament laws designed for the courts, and designed to limit retaliatory sentencing. But Jesus goes far beyond stopping the abuses. He says that those who follow him are to demonstrate over-the-top kindness and generosity towards everyone, even those who might be seeking to take you to court. Such a lifestyle can be attained by Christians as we see the over-the-top kindness and generosity of Jesus to us.
