Fiends, do you ever feel like you're listening to a broken record?
Romans 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. As someone who loves to study history, I love researching historical figures.  Ronald Reagan is one of the most intriguing men who served as President of the United States.  One amusing story I came across really caught my attention and made me smile. When he was a young man, Reagan worked at a radio station and sometimes played records of sermons. His shift at the station was a one-man operation and so, on occasion, Ron would set the record playing and then sneak out for a cup of coffee. One day he got a call while he was at the coffee shop from the station's owner, ordering him back to the station, and then ... he received his termination notice. He'd returned to the station finding the record skipping at a particular point in the sermon; "Go to Hell, go to Hell, go to Hell, go to..." There are probably several messages we could draw from this funny little sequence, but what spoke to me most was this, that in recent years we've heard the message repeated over and over again like a broken record, "The end is near, the end is near, the end is near, the end... and, "The Lord's return is at the door...";
Friends, yet, the fact is that we are very near to the Lord's return and there are many signs of His soon coming. So if the message sounds repetitive perhaps it's because the Lord's return is much nearer now than when we first believed -- even at the very door. And the whole point of thinking about and dwelling upon Yeshua's return is that we want to be ready, keeping close accounts with Him, living holy and fruitful lives...spotless, blameless, at His coming. Our bridal love for Him will keep us looking up and listening for the cry; "Behold, the bridegroom cometh!" Your family in the Lord with much agape love, George, Baht Rivka, Elianna & Obadiah Nashville, Tennessee
And this is another fine day in the Lord as the days draw nearer to the return of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ in whom we see greater things than these.
John 1:47–51 (NASB95) — 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.” 50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” 51 And He said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
Now to Nathaniel's meditation.
Genesis 28:12–16 (NASB95) — 12 He (Jacob after fleeing the wrath of His brother, stopping at Bethel for rest) had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. 14 “Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”
The Son of man is the reference to the rulership that is given to the Son of David, the Son of Abraham. the one who has a human linage in the opening chapter of Matthew and in the third chapter of Luke.
It is Jesus who will return to rule the earth as the Last Adam. When Jesus returns to rule the literal kingdom which is yet in the future to come, Jesus will rule from His humanity.
Remember the term, Hypo static Union. It is the uniting of the two natures which is found in Christ. Jesus is undiminished deity. Jesus gave nothing up or changed in being God. He is the great I AM who was before Abraham. (incidentally, there was no Jews prior to Abraham. What Jesus then saying, “before Abraham, I AM.”) unmistakable that this Jewish carpenter referred to himself as God.”
The disciples noticed and validated that fact when they witnessed that Jesus halted the storm with Just one word.
Jesus is true humanity. He was born of a virgin into this world. He has a human record, a dynasty of David, he is the Son of David. He had all the human characteristics except he had no sin nature as we do being that He was born of a virgin with no transmission of the adamic nature.
Jesus was and still is, as he currently sits at the right hand of the Father bearing two natures. Godly and Human.
When Jesus returns to rule it will fulfill God’s purpose that is Annunciation in the first Chapter of Genesis.
As we have often pointed out and will do so again.
God’s purpose in creation that the dominion rule will be for Man who was made in God’s image.
Genesis 1:26–27 (NASB95) — 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Adam was created perfect, with no sin. and it was God who gave authority to Adam and to the woman as both male and female are coheirs. But Man, though a ruler, was not independent agent. Adam was to bow a knee to His sovereign creator. When Adam sinned against God, he broke the covenant leaving a vacuum of rulership which Satan immediately filled.
But what God purposed from the beginning He intends to bring to its completion.
The Last Adam will come to reverse the decision that the first Adam had made with the result of a world full of sin and evil. Adam’s decision to disobey which brought sin to all mankind as the progeny of Adam. Jesus would come to take our sin on his own body as perhaps the first Adam had the opportunity to stand in the place of his guilty wife. But instead it is the last Adam who will stand in the place for his own bride and die for her (Ephesians 5)
Ephesians 5:25 (NASB95) — 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
then it is that the Son of Man, Jesus the Last Adam, who died and rose again and ascended into heaven and now at the right hand of the Father will come back at God’s appointed time to rule over the kingdom and the world.
Daniel 7:13–14 (NASB95) — 13 “I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. 14 “And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.
Jesus made his confession to His earthly Judges
Matthew 26:63–64 (NASB95) — 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.” 64 Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
There Jesus will fulfill the promise, He is the protoeuanggelion of Genesis 3:15
Genesis 3:15 (NASB95) — 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
Jesus is the serpent crusher. Satan attacked man initially. It will be man, the seed of the woman who will finish Satan off.
Jesus the Last Adam, the Son of man will rule this earth as the first Adam was to, to complete God’s plan for creation.
when Satan goes to his final destination, the eternal lake of fire, He will go there not having one thing to boast about in all of his evil. every evil endever will have produced not one thing.
What is the greater things that Nathaniel will see?
Christ ruling. A man ruling over all including the angels.
I suppose like many of us Nathaniel, in his meditation was visualizing what Jacob was seeing in his dream.
Genesis 28:12–13 (NASB95) — 12 He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants.
What a great scene it was for Jacob. So great that when Jacob awoke his entire senses were on alert.
Genesis 28:16–17 (NASB95) — 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” 17 He was afraid יָרֵא, יָרֵא [yareʾ /yaw·ray/] v1A1 to fear, be afraid. 1A2 to stand in awe of, be awed. 1A3 to fear, reverence, honour, respect.
and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”
Jesus is God, and it was that Jacob looked into heaven above that ladder and saw God.
Jesus’ says to Nathaniel, “Because you are believing, you will see greater things that these.
For one what is greater?
In the chain of creation there is
Angels
below angels is man
and below man there is animals
One of the greater things is the reversal in the chain of Creation when man moves to a predominate place over the angels.
Hebrews 2:5–8 (NASB95) — 5 For He did not subject to angels the world to come, concerning which we are speaking. 6 But one has testified somewhere, saying, “What is man, that You remember him? Or the son of man, that You are concerned about him? 7 “You have made him for a little while lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And have appointed him over the works of Your hands; 8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.
When we go back and see that little baby in Bethlehem, He was not yet crowned King, but yet the Magi came from afar to pay homage to the King of the Jews. They know that this one will rule and the nations will pay homage to this one. The Magi did not wait to do so.
But so did the angels, didn’t they? On the night that Jesus was born. They paid homage to the one who will one day in His humanity be ruling over them. And it is right now that Jesus in his hypo static union, a man is sitting on God the Father’s throne.
Jacob was in awe of what he saw and experienced in that dream.
how much more will we be awed by what will come through the son of man who has authority over all creation at the high advantage point in Heaven.
