(From The ESV Prayer Bible)
"This remarkable book of the Bible has zero explicit references to God, yet the marks of God's divine activity are everywhere present in it.
The book of Esther accordingly has much to teach us in our lives and as we pray.
Much of life seems so haphazard, random, and absurd.
Especially when pain washes into our lives, we easily feel as if God is distant and aloof, uncaring, and unloving.
Esther breaks us out of this unbelieving spell, reminding us that God is never distant, never aloof.
He is ever present to his people, quietly overseeing all that unfolds in their lives.
When God seems distant, this is not a reason to quit praying, it is a reason to pray all the more, knowing that he is near, and eagerly to watch for evidences of his presence and power in our lives."
