Luke 7, John sends his disciples to ask if truly was the Messiah
He was in jail, no doubt could bring the strongest into a little depression.
Isaiah 61:6 says that the Messiah was so set the captives free, and here he was sitting in prison.

49 But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation.
The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed.
