“God Provides”
“God Provides”
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
God Calls Us Sheep
Jesus Calls Himself the Good Shepherd
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
I. GREEN PASTURES AND STILL WATERS
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
“I Shall Not Want”
Want = I Lack Nothing
God is the Provider of ALL of our NEEDS
“Green Pastures”
Contentment & Peace
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
II. HEALING AND RESTORATION
“He RESTORES my soul”
Healing to a broken heart
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
a bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not quench,
until he brings justice to victory;
Jesus HEALS AND RESTORES our hearts
Jesus mends us where we are broken
He does NOT hurt us.
He HEALS us.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
III. PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
“Righteousness”
Right standing with God
By grace through faith in Jesus
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah
I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
We are forgiven and made righteous in Christ
AND...
We need to live a life of confession and repentance
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Do you know when I have the most confidence?
When I hear the voice of the Father
“CONFIDENCE”
CONFIDE
We have confidence when He confides in us with His voice
“WHAT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT SAYING TO ME THROUGH THIS MESSAGE?”
